Alabama Fishing Report for:
Lake Eufaula in South Eastern Alabama
Updated: July 06, 2006.
Lake Eufaula, Alabama Lake level 187.30 MSL Water clarity, clear to three feet Water temperature 87 Degrees in the river to 90 degrees in the shallows of the creeks

Bass fishing has continued to be steady. The early morning bite is constant in the shallow water. Place your boat in 10 to 25 feet of water and work the shallow grass and pad cover . The Big Bite Baits are doing some awesome things. Their Yo-Mamma is working good, the Craw is the best thing going. They have several new baits coming out. Visit them at www.bigbitebaits.com (http://www.bigbitebaits.com). Tell Scott or Dennis you read about the bait in this report. Their baits have hit the market place like gangbusters. They are catching fish all across the Nation. The Blade runner is still working at all locations on the lake. Mann's 20 plus and 30 plus are catching fish on the ledges when the sun gets up. I like the larger baits so they can be worked slower. The blue crystal glow and Alabama shad colors are my favorite. The Kinami Nories bug and Flash are getting bites on the Texas and Carolina Rigs.

Crappie are still biting for the late fishermen. They are hitting a black and chartreuse jig worked on the bottom like a Texas rig. Vertical jigging is working on the ledges, tip the jig with a minnow for best results.

Catfish have spawned and are back in full action. This is great fun for just relaxing, or you can step it up a notch and try the jugs. They will keep you busy and fill a cooler in a hurry.

Bluegill are hitting worms and crickets. They are best caught early and late, working the shorelines around grass, pads and blow downs. We were out with a client the other evening on an afternoon trip. The day got longer as we were getting ready to come in and we started catching "finger" cats on the pan fish bait. We stayed 'till nearly dark and had a ball catching the best size eating fish in the water.

Hybrids are hitting jigging spoons in the late afternoon in the mouth of some creeks. This is fun for Dad to take his kid's for some good action on ultra lite tackle. A short trip after supper can make some great memories.

Remember our troops as they take care of business to protect our freedom. We could be fighting this war on terrorism in our streets if we did not have great leadership and brave soldiers. Keep all these men and women in your daily prayers. They are the greatest. Keep in touch with the www.leekingbenefit.org (http://www.leekingbenefit.org) site for updates on how you can continue to help in the fight against Niemann-Pick Disease. This tragic illness is claiming the lives of our precious children. You can make a difference if helping us find a cure for this terminal disease.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN 1.4 FEET STAINED AND 86 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair and the deep water patterns are producing the largest catches ! The upper part of the Chattaooga River is producing alot of bass right now, most are Spotted Bass from 1 to 3 pounds with the occasional Largemouth in the 2 to 5 pound range, the Shad have moved into it in huge schools, a shallow running crank bait in chartreuse worked on the ledges is a great bait for alot of action, a 3/8 ounce Oldham white spinnerbait with silver double willow blades is also catching fish. The bass in the Coosa river are shallow in the log jams ,flipping a pig and jig or a texas rigged tube will produce some good largemouth. Some fish are schooling in the creek mouths like Mud creek and ballplay creek a shallow to medium running crank bait in chartreuse like a fat free shad is producing fish in the creek mouths. The fish in the main lake are still deep. The deep water patterns will last for the next several months ! Some are still under docks that have 4 feet or more of water under them. Slow roll a 1/2 ounce Oldham spinner bait in chartreuse and white with silver double willow blades or a carolina rig with a Zoom big dead ringer in Junebug. Stroking a brown 3/8 ounce stanley jig with a Zoom chunk in pumpkin seed is producing some good fish, crank baits are producing some fish also use a DD14 or a DD22 in a shad pattern. Target ledges that have 8 feet of water or more on top in the main lake !
. The spotted bass have moved to points, humps and the old river channels use a Fat Free Shad crank bait in citrius shad color or a 1/2 ounce Oldham spinnerbait in chartreuse and white. Use a All Pro Rod APX Series 6 feet 10 inch medium heavy action for spinner baits and their 7 foot 6 inch or 8 foot ultra light APX flippin stick. www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com)

Crappie fishing is fair. Most fish have moved back to the river channel drops and can be caught bumping bottom with minnows, usa a 3/4 ounce weight on your main line and come up 16 inches and tie a hook and leader, fish the dropoff and look for any structure on the drop, target the 12-16 feet range in the Little river and Chattooga river area. Night fishing under lights in the same areas is producing some good catches also Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .

Striper fishing is good and the stripers are in the Cave Hole in Little river, Alot of fish are moving back into the Chattooga river and Little Spring creek looking for cooler moving water with more oxygen, night fishing has started to pick up with some good catches from 11:00 pm - 4:00 am. With the low oxygen levels expect the best fishing very early am and late pm, but a good rain should turn them back on again. Fish the old river channels in the Chattooga river and Little river. Use live shad on a down line 8 to 12 feet deep and work the drop off from 12 feet down to 25 feet. Look for the schools of stripers on your fish finder and adjust your bait depth to get it a foot or so above them. Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series. www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com)

Catfish are biting great. The catfish are biting all over the lake and they are being caught by jug fishermen and people fishing off of docks are really catching alot of fish on Chicken livers and night crawlers, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish and fish the main coosa river below the big bridge in Cedar Bluff.

Come fish with me on Weiss Lake, Alabama The Crappie Capital of the World and Striper Capital of the South for a fishing trip of a life time !
Thank you and have fun fishing.

Creature baits like the Zoom Brush Hog in june bug fished on a carolina rig is producing some fish. The upper part of the Chattooga River is holding alot of Spotted Bass with a few Largemouths. The Shad have moved to the Chattooga River in huge schools for the cooler water with more oxygen. The best baits are shallow to medium running crankbaits in chartreuse or a shad pattern. Spinner baits are also producing fair in the Chattooga River. A 3/8 ounce Oldham spinner bait in chartreuse and white or solid white with double willow blades in chrome and gold is my bait of choice.

Bass fishing is good Most have moved shallow following the shad with the falling water temperature. Some fish are still deep in the main lake. A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com (http://www.smacktackle.com) is working awesome right now ! It is the best shad imitation crank bait I have ever used ! This is a new bait and I caught fish on it the first time I used it, Spotted Bass, Largemouth and Stripers love them! Look for schools of shad in the back of the bays and creeks. Working a flat sided crank bait in the areas where the shad are present will produce some good stringers of bass.

Crappie fishing is great. The crappie have started biting great on minnows on the old Coosa river channel drops using minnows and a bottom bouncing rig.Alot of 60 fish limits have been coming in this week using this technique. Tie a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce bell sinker on your main line then come up 16 inches and tie a eagle claw size 1 snelled aberdeen hook on the line, then drop this rig to the bottom and bring it back up one crank of your reel off the bottom. Fish the dropoffs of the old river channels and look for any structure on the drop and work the structure slowly with your trolling motor. Target the 12-16 feet range in the Coosa river channel from the mouth of Bay Springs cove, upriver to the causeway at Cedar Bluff. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .

Striper fishing is poor with the fast falling water level the fish have moved from their summer haunts in the major creeks and rivers. Most fish are in the main lake and they are moving around alot right now and no one pattern is working well. A few weeks and cooler water and they should be on a predictable pattern again.

Bass fishing is good The Large mouth have moved up shallow in the back of the bays on points and shallow flats and they are chasing shad, they are being caught on crank baits, spinner baits and jerk baits. Some fish are also being caught on rocky banks on plastics and crank baits. The Spotted Bass are still out on the deeper channel ledges and points. Crappie fishing is fair. The crappie have moved off of the drop offs and suspended in the middle of the river channel in Little River 10 to 14 feet deep. A float and fly technique works well on these inactive suspended fish. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 8 or 10 foot length with double 1/6 ounce jigs under a medium egg float, fish it slowly just over these fish. The upper Chattooga River above the highway 68 bridge is also producing some fish casting a float and fly to the edges of the old river channel.

Striper fishing is Good The stripers are in the main lake below the cause way in Cedar Bluff down to the dams in Leesburg. Look for the fish on flats near the river channels. Anytime they are generating power, fish the rocks on either side of the dam and the 2 points at the mouth of the canal. Watch for the gulls to circle and dive into the water, move close to the area, then cast a Gizz 4 crank bait to the area for some fast action or use live bait or a 3 inch Sassy Shad on a 1/4 ounce jig head. The White Bass and Yellow Bass are schooling on top early and late in the main lake, look for flats near the old river channel near Yellow Creek. Use a White or Yellow Rooster Tail or a Little George for lots of action.

Hello friends,
Cajun Country Candies started as a small retail shop in a Louisiana mall where we sold candies made from family recipes that had been passed down from one generation to the next. As tourists discovered us, word began to spread about the delicious candy from this little shop deep in the heart of "Cajun Country".

Over the years we have enjoyed tremendous growth and have recently moved to a brand new facility that enables us to meet the ever-growing demand for our products and allows us to continue to add to our product line.

Bass fishing is Fair The Bass have slowed down with the cold weather moving in.
The Largemouth are being caught on several patterns. Gravel and rocky secondary points are producing well using crank baits and Rat L Traps. Deeper rocky banks and rip rap with 6 feet of water or more is also producing well on crank baits and jigs. The Spotted Bass have moved up shallow on points, sand bars and shallow humps in the mid to lower lake. A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com (http://www.smacktackle.com) is working awesome right now ! It is the best shad imitation crank bait I have ever used ! Rat L Traps are also working well.
Use All Pro Rod APX Series www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com) The Finest Fishing Rods Available Today !
To keep your catch ALIVE for the weigh in make sure you use a Keep Alive Oxygen Infuso2r Aeration system www.keepalive.net (http://www.keepalive.net)

Striper fishing is Fair The stripers are in the main lake below the cause way in Cedar Bluff down to the dams in Leesburg.
Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series. www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com) The Finest Fishing Rods Available Today !
To keep your live bait Alive make sure to use a Keep Alive Bait Tank and Oxygen Infuso2r Aeration System www.keepalive.net (http://www.keepalive.net)

Catfish are biting great. The bigger catfish are biting awesome. The docks at JR's Marina are producing some 20 to 40 pound Blues every night. Use a Crappie head or rib cage with no weight and use at least 25 pound test line. If no Crappie heads are available use cut Bream.

Interesting, fascinating game, realistic – simulation of fishing. There is big variety of fish, each which has its own behaviour. In this game you have an opportunity to perfect your equipment - fishing-rod, hook, bob, bait, spoon bait, and fishing-line. You can play in full-screen mode, reduced window mode, and also you can minimize the game. In minimized mode the image of the bob will appear on your monitor, and will tell you when you have a bite. Such a possibility gives you time to do other things if fish don't nibble or if you are trying to catch very big fish, which always takes much time and patience. 53 different types of fish. Competition spirit in the game during all the time. To have play in new location you need to get 150 points. The beautiful water will not leave you unaffected. There are 28 different locations each with beautiful landscape s and splendid music will help you to relax

Blade runner is still working at all locations on the lake.

They will keep you busy and fill a cooler in a hurry, Bass fishing is Fair The Bass have slowed down with the cold weather moving in.

Please be careful on Weiss Lake with the low water level !

Bass fishing is slow. The Bass are deep on the ledges on a winter pattern.
Stroking a 3/8 or 1/4 ounce brown Stanley jig with a Zoom Chunk trailer in pumpkin seed color is producing some fish. A Carolina rig with a 6 inch Zoom Dead Ringer or a Gene Larue Salt Craw in Junebug or pumpkin seed is catching fish also. Target the ledges in Little River and the main Coosa River.
Remember to fish slowly, the water is cold and the slower you fish the more bites you will get.
Little River is producing a lot of Spotted Bass , use a 4 inch Zoom Ring Worm in Smoke Glitter color or Pumpkin Seed color, fish the river channel ledges above JR's Marina. The deep rock wall in Little River below Little Spring Creek is producing some good stringers of Largemouth and Spotted bass. Try slow rolling a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce Strike king spinner bait with a double willow leaf blade, work it SLOWLY with a stop and go retrieve to imitate a dying shad, bouncing it down the rock ledge. A small 1/4 ounce jig in brown with a Zoom pumpkin seed chunk trailer worked slowly down the rock ledge is always a good winter time bait.
Use a All Pro Rod APX Series www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com) The Finest Fishing Rods Available Today !

Crappie fishing is fair. There are good schools of crappie suspended 8 to 14 feet deep in all the major bays of the lower lake, Little River is also producing some fish in the main river channel out in front of JR's Marina.
With a warming trend look for these suspended fish to move up and really start biting.
Spider trolling 1/16 ounce JIFFY JIGS www.jiffyjigs.com (http://www.jiffyjigs.com) in white.blue, white and chartreuse, white, chartreuse will produce some good action.
Little Spring Creek is also producing some good catches, Spider Trolling 1/32 ounce JR's jigs in 3 to 7 feet of water.
The upper Coosa river is producing some fish along the main river channel above Riverside Camp Ground using minnows on a bottom bouncing rig. this rig consists of a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce bell sinker tied on your main line then tying a snelled eagle claw # 1 hook about 12 inches above your weight, fish this rig 10 to 16 feet deep along the old river channel above and below Riverside Camp ground
The Chattooga River is also producing some fair catches using a Float and Fly technique 3 to 6 feet deep around the stumps on the edge of the old river channel. Target the river from the highway 68 bridge all the way to the bridge in ***lesville.
Use All Pro Rods Slab Slayer Series www.allprorods.com (http://www.allprorods.com) The Finest Fishing Rods Available Today !
Come on over to Weiss Lake Alabama the Crappie Capital of the World and get in on some of the awesome spring Crappie fishing that made this lake famous.

Striper fishing is poor The stripers have started moving up the Coosa river to make their spawning run. Fishing cut bait on the bottom in the Coosa River behind Plant Hammond has always been a great producer in February and early march. The stripers will then move up behind the Lock and Dam in Rome Georgia, waiting for the water to rise enough for them to go over and on up the Etowah and Oostanaula Rivers to spawn. Watch for the gulls to circle and dive into the water, move close to the area, then cast a Gizz 4 crank bait by SMACK TACKLE www.smacktackle.com (http://www.smacktackle.com) to the area for some fast action or a chartreuse or white 4 inch Sassy Shad or curly tail grub on a 1/4 ounce jig head.

Bass fishing is Good. The bass are shallow in the the middle stages of spawning. Some bass are still cruising the banks and most are spawning. Floating worms, Jerk Baits and Texas rigged Lizards and Worms fished around shallow cover and sea walls is producing some good catches. Look for shallow shaded sea walls and rocky banks with over hanging cover or shade.

Crappie fishing is Great. The Crappie are shallow and in the late stages of spawning. The fish are on the banks in the mid to lower lake, casting a Jiffy Jig in color JJ17 to rocky banks and under docks is working awesome right now. In the upper lake the fish are in 3-5 feet of water in the back of the spawning bays, Trolling a Jiffy Jig in 1/24 ounce in colors JJ13 and JJ17 will produce some hot action. Fishing shallow brush piles with minnows is always a great way to catch fish during the spawn here on Weiss lake. Cowan Creek is still producing some good catches trolling 1/16th ounce Jiffy Jigs in 7-10 feet of water. Bumping bottom with minnows in Little River and the Chattooga River is producing some good catches also.
Come on over to Weiss Lake Alabama and get in on some of the awesome fishing that earned this lake the name, The Crappie Capital of the World !

Striper fishing is Good The stripers have started moving up the Coosa river to make their spawning run. Catfish are biting Good. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish, The docks at JR's Marina is producing some good fish also. Use cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN .2 FEET STAINED AND 59 DEGREES

For Reports On Other Area Lakes Please Visit www.havefunfishing.com (http://www.havefunfishing.com)

Bass fishing is Fair. The cold front the past week has slowed the fishing. Fish slower and use smaller baits for these tough conditions.

Some are shallow and in the late stages of spawning, and alot of fish have moved back to the creek channel ledges.Fishing shallow brush piles with minnows is always a great way to catch fish during the spawn here on Weiss lake. Shooting docks with a 1/32 ounce Jiffy Jig in Color JJ13 and JJ17 is producing some good catches.

Catfish are biting Good. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish, The docks at JR's Marina is producing some good fish also. Use cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.

Bass fishing is Good. Most Bass are finished spawning although there are still some bedding.
Fish can be caught on many different lures after the spawn. Some great technique's are to fish a 3/8 ounce spinner bait in fire tiger with double gold colorado blades and a Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle in solid white or blue and white in the spawning bays, use these lures to cover water. Fish a texas rigged lizard or worm or a 4 inch flipping tube in june bug when you find any shallow cover or boat docks, target the backs of the docks and especially any that meet a sea wall. Look for any of the shallow grass that is starting to turn green as these post spawn fish will use it heavy for a couple of weeks.
Spotted Bass are back out on the deeper main lake points and river channel ledges. Carolina rigged plastics are producing good. Stroking a 3/8 ounce jig in brown craw with a Zoom chunk trailer in pumpkin seed is catching some good fish.

LAKE WEISS IS AT 1.4 FEET BELOW FULL POOL STAINED AND 81 DEGREES

For Reports On Other Area Lakes Please Visit www.havefunfishing.com (http://www.havefunfishing.com)

Bass fishing is Good. Most Bass have moved to main lake points, humps and main river channel ledges. Crank baits, Spinner baits and Carolina rigged plastics are always great baits to catch these fish on the drop offs. Look for the deep water patters to hold for the next few months. Spotted Bass are out on the deeper main lake points and river channel ledges. Carolina and Texas rigged plastics are producing good. Stroking a 3/8 ounce jig in a brown crawfish pattern with a Zoom chunk trailer in pumpkin seed is catching some good fish. Little River is producing some good spots on the river channel ledges above JR's Marina up to the Cave Hole.

Crappie fishing is Fair. The crappie are on the main Coosa River and creek channel ledges. Fishing brush piles in 10-18 feet of water with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some great fishing. Shooting docks with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in Color JJ13 and JJ17 and JJ20 and JJ25 is producing some good catches. Bumping bottom with minnows in Little River and the Chattooga River is producing some good catches with a lot of bigger female Crappie.

Striper fishing is Good. Stripers are being caught in the main lake and a few are starting to show up in the lower Chattooga River below the Highway 35 bridge. Look for main lake points and drop offs in the Yellow Creek area and where Little River and the Chattooga River join the Coosa River Fishing live Shad on down lines on the edges of the main channel is always a great way to catch these hard fighting fish. Keep your boat on the edge of the points or drop offs in 12-20 feet of water with your baits at 8-10 feet deep. The bite has been very early in the morning over the last week and very late in the afternoon.

Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish, The docks at JR's Marina is producing some good fish also. Use cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.

Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish. Use live bream, cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.

AUGUST 30th 2007

LAKE WEISS IS AT 6.3 FEET BELOW FULL POOL STAINED AND 85 DEGREES

For Reports On Other Area Lakes Please Visit www.havefunfishing.com

Please be careful with the low water levels !
Weiss Lake is at the mid December lake level !

There are very few boat ramps that are usable on Weiss Lake, all of the private owned ramps are without water, the public ramp on Hwy 9 is still usable and the public ramp in the canal in Leesburg is still usable. We are working with the state oif Alabama and Alabama Power to get some boat ramps repaired so everyone can still come fish Weiss Lake. I will report every week on lake conditions and the progress of repairs to the ramps !

Bass fishing is fair. The bass have moved shallow in the main lake due to the falling water and low oxygen levels. Work main lake points and flats near the main river channels with shallow running crank baits like the Gizz 4 and the Bandit 100 series

Crappie fishing is Fair. The crappie are on the main Coosa River and other creek channel ledges. Night fishing on these ledges with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is always a good bet to catch a few crappie and beat the heat of summer. Bumping bottom in 10-18 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some fair fishing. Shooting docks that are on the main Coosa River channel with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in color JJ13 is still producing some good catches.

Striper fishing is Poor. With low oxygen levels in the lake the Stripers have shut down.

Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish. Use live bream, cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.

Please be careful with the low water levels !
Weiss Lake is at the late December lake level !

There are very few boat ramps that are usable on Weiss Lake, all of the private owned ramps are without water, the public ramp on Hwy 9 is still usable and the public ramp in the canal in Leesburg is still usable. We are working with the state of Alabama and Alabama Power to get some boat ramps repaired so everyone can still come fish Weiss Lake. I will report every week on lake conditions and the progress of repairs to the ramps !

Bass fishing is Good. The bass have moved shallow in the main lake due to the falling water and low oxygen levels in the deeper water. Work main lake points, humps and flats near the main river channels with shallow running crank baits like the Gizz 4 and the Bandit 100 series. Work these baits on 12 pound test line with a 6 1/2 or 7 foot medium action crank bait rod. Look for flats with shad working the surface near the main river channels in the main lake from the Cedar Bluff bridge to the powerhouse lake.

Crappie fishing is Fair. The crappie are on the main Coosa River and other creek channel ledges. Night fishing on these ledges with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is always a good bet to catch a few crappie and beat the heat of summer. Bumping bottom in 8-12 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some fair fishing. The bumping bottom technique is a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce bell sinker tied to your main line then come up 12 to 16 inches above the weight and tie a eagle claw snelled hook in size 1 or 2 style # 127 to the main line, fish this rig 1 to 2 feet above the bottom on the old Coosa River channel in the Bay Springs and Yellow Creek area.

Fishing the main Coosa river channel with cut bait, right below the Cedar Bluff bridge is producing some big Blue Cats.

Crappie fishing is Great. The Crappie fishing has turned on with the cooling trend over the past weeks, A lot of 60 fish limits have been coming into JR's Marina over the past week. The crappie are on the main Coosa River and other creek channel ledges. Bumping bottom in 8-12 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some good fishing. Striper fishing is Poor. The White Bass and smaller Stripers in the 1-3 pound range are working the shad on the surface early in the morning and late in the evening. When you see these fish working the surface any small spinner like a yellow Rooster Tail or Mepps spinner will catch these active fish. A 3 inch Sassy Shad in white on a 1/4 ounce jig head will also work well.

The public ramp on Hwy 9 is still usable and the public ramp in the canal in Leesburg is still usable. The ramp at the Weissmart Marina is still usable although it has a drop off. Yellow Creek ramp is still usable to smaller boats due to a hole in the ramp. Rooster's in Cowan Creek Still has a ramp open. Riverside Campground has improved their ramp for low water use but I have been getting a lot of reports that it is still hard to load and unload. We are working with the state of Alabama and Alabama Power to get some boat ramps repaired so everyone can still come fish Weiss Lake. I will report every week on lake conditions and the progress of repairs to the ramps !

Spotted Bass are being caught on the Coosa river channel ledges in 5-10 feet of water, carolina rigs and crank baits are working well.

Crappie fishing is Great. The Crappie fishing has been a little better over the last week. The average daily catch has be 30-50 keepers. The crappie are on the main Coosa River ledges and a few are starting to be caught on the Little River creek channel ledges. Bumping bottom in 10-12 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some awesome fishing. The bumping bottom technique is a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce bell sinker tied to your main line then come up 12 to 16 inches above the weight and tie a eagle claw snelled hook in size 1 or 2 style # 127 to the main line, come up another 12 inches and tie on a Jiffy Jig in colors JJ13 and JJ17, fish this rig 1 to 2 feet above the bottom on the old Coosa River channel in the Bay Springs and Yellow Creek area. Shooting docks that are on the main Coosa River channel with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in color JJ13 is still producing some good catches. Come on over to Lake Weiss Alabama and get in on some awesome fall crappie fishing !

Striper fishing is Fair. The White Bass and smaller Stripers in the 1-3 pound range are working the shad on the surface early in the flats of the main lake in the morning and late in the evening. When you see these fish working the surface any small spinner like a yellow Rooster Tail or Mepps spinner will catch these active fish. A 3 inch Sassy Shad in white on a 1/4 ounce jig head will also work well. Fish these on Light spinning tackle with 6lb test line for some great fun.

Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the flats of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish. Use live bream, cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait. Fishing the main Coosa river channel with cut bait, right below the Cedar Bluff bridge is producing some big Blue Cats.

LAKE WEISS IS AT 6.0 FEET BELOW FULL POOL STAINED AND 66 DEGREES

For Reports On Other Area Lakes Please Visit www.havefunfishing.com

Please be careful with the low water levels !

There are very few boat ramps that are usable on Weiss Lake, Most of the private owned ramps are without water, the ramp at JR's MARINA is still ok and owner Jason Tucker said he would do what repairs are needed to keep a boat ramp in operation thru the fall.

Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama !

Bass fishing is Great. The largemouth are shallow in the main lake and in the back of the bays. Work main lake points, road beds, humps and flats near the main river channels with shallow running crank baits like the Gizz 4 in green back and chartreuse back and the Bandit 100 series. Look for flats with shad working the surface near the main river channels in the main lake from the Cedar Bluff bridge to the powerhouse lake. The upper coosa river is also producing some good fish, look for the fish in the mouth of any ditch, channel or creek that cuts off of the main Coosa river channel. Double willow leaf blade spinner baits in chartreuse and white are producing some good fish also. Work these baits on 12-14 pound test line with a 6 1/2 or 7 foot medium action crank bait rod. Spotted Bass are being caught on the Coosa river channel ledges in 5-10 feet of water, carolina rigs and crank baits are working well. Tournaments over the weekend were seeing a lot of 15-18 pound stringers with very few boats not able to weigh in 5 fish limits.

Crappie fishing is Great. The Crappie fishing has been great over the last week. The average daily catch has been 40-60 keepers. The fish are on the main Coosa River ledges and a few are starting to be caught on the Little River creek channel ledges, look for more fish to start moving into Little River over the next several weeks. Bumping bottom in 11-14 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some awesome fishing. The upper Coosa river is also producing some decent catches of crappie in the log jams and behind any structure that creates a current break. Come on over to Lake Weiss Alabama and get in on some awesome fall crappie fishing !

Striper fishing is Fair. The White Bass and smaller Stripers in the 1-3 pound range are working the shad on the surface early in the flats of the main lake in the morning and late in the evening. Work shallow brush and stumps and docks in 2-5 feet of water with a shallow running crank bait like the Gizz 4 in green back and chartreuse back and the Bandit 100 series. Watch for Shad working the surface in the backs of the bays and work these areas good with the Gizz 4. Double willow leaf blade spinner baits in chartreuse and white are producing some good fish also. Work these baits on 12-14 pound test line with a 6 1/2 or 7 foot medium action crank bait rod. Spotted Bass are being caught on the Coosa, Little river and Chattooga river channel ledges in 5-10 feet of water, Carolina rigs and Drop Shot rigs are working well.

Crappie fishing is fair. With the warming trend over the past week a lot of fish have moved into the bays of the upper Coosa River in 4-8 feet of water, the fish are 2-4 feet deep and can be caught trolling with Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ17 and JJ25 or with a float and fly technique with the same Jiffy Jigs fished 3 feet deep. A lot of fish are still being caught on the main Coosa River ledges below Riverside Campground to Three mile Creek, bumping bottom in 11-14 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs. Shooting docks that are on the main Coosa River channel with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in color JJ13 is still producing some good catches. The upper Coosa river is also producing some decent catches of crappie in the log jams and behind any structure that creates a current break. The bumping bottom technique is a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce bell sinker tied to your main line then come up 12 to 16 inches above the weight and tie a eagle claw snelled hook in size 1 or 2 style # 127 to the main line, come up another 12 inches and tie on a Jiffy Jig in colors JJ13 and JJ17, fish this rig 1 to 2 feet above the bottom on the old Coosa River channel in the Riverside Campground area down river to Three Mile Creek.

Striper fishing is fair. The Stripers are on the edges of the the old river channels of the Coosa River and a few are starting to show up in Little River. Target the area from the Cedar Bluff Bridge up river to Spring Creek A 4 inch curly grub in chartreuse glitter or a Sassy Shad in pearl or chartreuse on a 1/4 ounce jig head trolled at 1.5-2 mph on 12 pound test line on the river ledges.

Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the flats of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish. Use live bream, cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait. Fishing the main Coosa river channel with cut bait, right below the Cedar Bluff bridge is producing some big Blue Cats, any of the deeper holes on the main Coosa River will hold large Catfish thru the winter months. The docks at JR's Marina are producing some 20-50 pound Blues and a few Flatheads on Crappie heads most every night. Make sure to use a good quality fishing line I suggest Ande line in at least 25 pound test. These big Catfish are strong and will fight very hard in the cooler winter months.

Target any of the deeper road beds, humps and points in the deeper flats and any point that meets the old river channels

Catfish are biting Great.

Bass fishing is fair and the largemouth have moved out to deeper water on the old river channels and main lake points, Carolina Rigs, Drop Shot Rigs and 1/2-3/4 ounce double willow leaf Spinner Baits slow rolled are producing well. Spotted Bass are active and being caught on the Coosa, Little River and Chattooga River channel ledges in 8-14 feet of water, Carolina rigs and Drop Shot rigs are working well.

Crappie fishing is Good and good numbers of fish are being caught on the main Coosa River ledges from Riverside Campground to Three mile Creek, bumping bottom in 11-14 feet of water with live minnows and Jiffy Jigs. The piers at JR's Marina are producing a lot of Crappie casting jigs and minnows under floats 5-7 feet deep. Shooting docks and casting to any visible cover that is on the main Coosa River channel with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in color JJ13 is producing some good catches. The upper Coosa river is also producing some decent catches of crappie in the log jams and behind any structure that creates a current break. The bumping bottom technique is a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce bell sinker tied to your main line then come up 12 to 16 inches above the weight and tie a eagle claw snelled hook in size 1 or 2 style # 127 to the main line, come up another 12 inches and tie on a Jiffy Jig in colors JJ13 and JJ17, fish this rig 1 to 2 feet above the bottom on the edge of the old Coosa River channel in the Riverside Campground area down river to Three Mile Creek.

Striper fishing is Good. The Stripers are on the edges of the the old river channels and major flats of the Coosa River and Little River. Yellow Creek is also producing some good fishing. A 4 inch curly grub in chartreuse glitter or a 3 1/2 Sassy Shad in pearl or chartreuse glitter on a 1/4 ounce jig head trolled at 1 to1 1/2 mph on 12-15 pound test Ande line . Bass fishing is Poor and the Bass have moved out to deeper water on the old river channels and main lake points, Carolina Rigs,Jigging Spoons, Drop Shot Rigs and 1/2-3/4 ounce double willow leaf Spinner Baits in chartreuse and white slow rolled are all good winter baits. Bass fishing is Fair and some Bass have started staging on main lake and secondary points and riprap banks in the bays, Rat L Traps and the New Gizz4 crankbait are awesome baits to catch these aggressive staging Bass. Flipping a 3/8 ounce, brown crawfish pattern jig on riprap banks in the bays as the sun warms the rocks is a good technique to catch these prespawn fish. Spotted bass can be caught in Little River on any deep rocky banks, a Senko or Zoom 4 inch Ring Worm in green pumkin is working well.

Crappie fishing is Great and good numbers with a lot of limits of fish are being caught spider trolling Jiffy Jigs in 1/16 ounce in colors JJ17, JJ20, JJ25, JJ26 and JJ34 www.jiffyjigs.com on 6 pound test Ande line at .8-1 mph In 8-20 feet of water of the bays of the upper and lower lake. Look for these suspended Crappie with your electronics and adjust your trolling speed untill you get your jigs running within a foot of the depth you see the fish holding. The piers at JR's Marina are producing a lot of Crappie casting jigs and minnows under floats 5-7 feet deep.

Striper fishing is Fair and the Stripers are starting to move up the Coosa River for the spawning run. Fishing live Shad or cut Shad on or near the bottom in the main Coosa River from Poole's Ferry to Mayo's Lock and Dam is a great way to catch these fish as they move up river for the spawn. The warm water discharge from Plant Hammond near the Hwy. 100 bridge always holds some good fish from February thru early March. Trolling a 1/8 or 1/4 ounce jig with a 3 inch grub or sassy shad on 8 or 10 pound test line in the main Coosa River from Poole's Ferry to Mayo's Lock and Dam is a great way to catch the smaller 2-6 pound schooling stripers.

Catfish are biting Great. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Target the marinas where all the crappie are being cleaned as the discarded waste draws in the big Blue cats.
