Freeport Offshore/Statewater
Since Sat{4} trip was a blowout we opted for sunday{3-5-06}.I cannot stress enough how great our people have been.
Trip 5.
Headed out to offshore waters.Caught 6 triggers, 7 or 8 B-Liners,lost 1 real good grouper to structure, Had a good slick going but, nothing showed.Think the weather on sat had it messed up and water temp was still 65 deg.
Statewater within 8 miles.
8 red snapper-pink and 1 bullred tagged.
Take care folks have a good week.

Fishing has really been GREAT in the flats around Rockport and Aransas Pass. We've had a lot of windy days, great for Shrimp and popping cork. We've caught limits of reds and half limits of Trout for about 14 days straight! look for the edge of deep water next to flats when the weather gets a little colder and the tide goes out. Drift the flats with higher Spring tides, the fish are there!
Fish More, Live Longer!

Hello All,
Man fishing has been awsome for April.
The sows are starting to show latest is 21 lbs. the wahoo are close as in 20 miles if you know how to attrack them,On the 14th of april brought in a nice 35+ pound wahoo to bridge bait. Hard to believe such a deep water loving fish can be found so close at times. Found weedlines and caught a few chicken dolphin nothing real large unless you want to count a nice 12' shark Had a guy named gary cooper fight him for 5 hrs. on a snapper setup ! what a ride, backing down 7 miles on that monster shark, a few glimpes showed 12' and huge not exactually sure of the species Just big, Gary Cooper also managed to pull a flounder bigger than a platter up from 117' of water offshore ! the guy had luck, his son managed a few shark and snapper, Mixed catch. No photos of it just shadows the shark. waiting on photos to post from mr. cooper. of that awsome shark bday present for son.
here is the 20 miles wahoo. Oh yes the ling are also starting to come in also posting a nice Ling with Tommy Lindley and myself

Chartered for the Oilmans out of Galveston Yacht Basin, Good seas flat all day!
Waiting for photos I didn't have the time for any. Galveston,Texas Boated a decent limit of kingfish, they were everywhere,1 ling just over legal 38", 2 short of a snapper limit nothing real big to weigh in, Galveston has to be the hardest area to fish because of the long run just very time consuming, It was a fun trip and I being chartered for this.
6-3-2006
Offshore freeport Slam Great day on the water huge amounts of boats out, managed to get to my grouper spot and brought up a nice 10lb. Catch pics will follow
8-21-2006 to Sept.7,2006
August 21 ,2006 private for hire trip . Sorry everyone Bill has been home long enough to grab a nap and he is off again he has been bringing in snapper,red and cuberra, lane,vermillion,wahoo still not every trip,Ling about every 4 or 5 trip,grouper ,Kings are still out. Amberjack are deep right now, Amberjack is hammering at 60+ miles so is the blackfin! Sept. 1,2006 Galveston Jetty Trip, Got out around 6:30 and anchored out. Man there is some Big reds right now at the jetties bite was slow but, ended with 5 nice ones all tagged, Hung into a huge jack crevalle Bait! decided to pull up anchor and head over to the beachfront to see what was happening, plenty of small trout with about 4 nice keeper about 20", caught a few whiting at the same spot keep about 6 of those that were decent size, headed over to the T-head and bite was pretty slow at first 20 min so we sat anchored a bit and boom shark on .Did manage to get a few sheephead This was a full day trip and a very productive day it was ,oh did manage 4 gafftop up to about 8 lbs...Sept. 2,2006 Galveston Jetty Fishing 2 people wanted a early morning trip so we headed out of dock around 4:00am and went to the jetties anchored out got a couple of trout near the rocks using my lights, had something big bite couldn't get it to the boat on light tackle bout the time he started reeling snap.. When I fish the jetties I use med tackle to heavy because right where the tides colide it is rough and you never know what is hanging in there could have been a Tarpon who knows we never saw it. well excited was high after that so we started with my penn's, next we hung a nice 7' blacktip probably what we missed the last time after all they feed heavy at night around structure, they wanted him after a 1 1/2 of fight so in the boat he went.Headed back to the T-Head anchored out caught some nice fat sheephead ,somemore whiting, 1 wayward snapper this trip ended with snapper,whiting,shark,sheephead,reds,3 croaker pretty good eating size.Sept. 3,2006 Freeport Statewater fishing trip Had some returners back today always a pleasure, Great day out today flat as paper,Congradulations on the Anniv .Many more years to you two!!!! Had the bull reds, show up as usuall boated and tagged 4, hung into a HUGE! stingray, boated numerous trout,red snapper, kingfish and spanish mackeral, I mean we put some fish in the cooler today! Sorry I miss aimed didn't get all the catch in the photo but, you get the idea, see ya again soon!! Sept. 4,2006 Galveston Bay trip Good news! the bullreds(redfish) are picking up with the cold snap did a night trip, at night this is what i have found to bite trout managed about 10 for 3 people up to 20-22",3-big 5-6lb gafftop,only managed 1 small shark released,bay fishing is just slow laid back fishing, Sept 5,2006 Galveston Trip Came in got a cup of coffee and headed back out this time we ended the day with a 4' shark, did see a big manata ray looked to have remora all over it, was a cool site,got several whiting and a few sheephead around the T-head pier lots of people, we pulled up and they sure didn't like it much so we backed off till they gave the signal and laid out about 6 lines, 4 rang off at the same time Reds you know it everytime, ended up with alot of crap fish throwbacks,had a nice day out,headed in around 12:00pm had 2 asleep in the cabin on the way in so we took it nice and slow.}

TexasTunaFishing Report for 12-14-15-06 Overnighter
Well, fog I heard rolled onto the coast but, past 9 miles it was clear as a bell, so we made the run real deep was worth the trip had 4 charter guys onboard ready for the bite.
Trolled some couldn't get a hookup , so we decided to settle in for the night and hang baits to see what we could get. right off the bat boom blackfin everywhere not more than 2 hrs. and we had boated 50 didn't use any for bait boxed all these , then while they were still there decided on bait , Got 7 yellowfin tuna and boated 9 weighing 65-75lbs., 2 very respective Amberjack 1-35lbs and another 50lber., found junk comming in decided to weigh our chances and sure enough landed 2 mahi 1-35lber and another 45lber. , No wahoo, but, did manage a grouper about 35lbs. really weren't targeting snapper but, managed 2 vermillion, did hook up a huge shark breaking the line after about 20 min. this is one i would have really not wanted to boat.

Hello All,
This is a END of July fishing report between weather fronts and lord, knows we have certainly had alot of rain and wind in june and july. I have been doing alot of shark and snapper trips, kingfish, ling along with my usuall wahoo, kingfish and private for hire trips. I am running mostly galveston waters right now.
While Captain Dan we have had holding deep water fishing he has really impressed us this year. He is now building a good clientelle of steady followers he has been bringing in Ling to 54 lbs. and snapper up to 15 lbs. and some decent kings, He got his first wahoo boats to a respectable weight.
Full limits of red snapper have been hard to get at times but, we have managed, there is still the month of Oct. which holds some mighty big sow red snapper.
Lynn was asked this past week if we are a booking service NO WE ARE NOT we have 2 boats we run from Workingman Charters but, we can help you find a boat with a opening all sizes and pricing.

I have had alot of people ask Lynn if we fish in the rain and how rough before we cancel a trip n how far in advance do we know?
1. No I try not to fish the rain you never can tell what weather change will happen while out and I won't risk you or my boat.
2. Rough is when seas offshore have rain/wind usually I will cut my trip if 15knts or more. Anything over 10knts you almost always have chummers, I feel you charter us to give you a good time not practice hanging on.
3. We aren't paid to predict weather offshore-deepsea but, if we have out of towners we try as early as possible maybe 3 days maybe more.

Captain Dan had a great trip out today for 6hrs. of fishing on a Galveston Statewater Fishing trip
Managed to get out before the front came in. Catch was full limits of red snapper weighing in from 8-12 lbs that is 4 red snapper a piece,1 nice mangrove snapper,2 slot redfish and 2 big Redfish tagged, 3 nice flounder.
Now these galveston statewater trips include red snapper limits of 4 per person and are full day 750.00 this includes everything including fuel.
Fishermans Note: Just Captain Bill's OP
Statewater red snapper are lighter pink in color due to shallow water.

MESQUITE, TX --- Cover Your Bass introduces "The Bassroom" the complete portable privacy system that allows you to spend more time on the water fishing by eliminating those inconvenient moments.
Cover Your Bass is the culmination of research and development from innovators Matt and Kirk Smith, a father/son team of fishermen from Texas, who have created the ultimate portable bathroom for your fishing boat.
Aptly named "The Bassroom" this ingenious product fills the need for a portable bathroom system in a market that has been overlooked and neglected for years. With privacy concerns and today's current "eco-friendly" movements, the Bassroom virtually eliminates the possibility of over-exposure from your boat while providing an environmentally safe alternative to lengthy trips back to the loading dock.
"We've created this product to fill a void that currently exists in today's fishing arena" said Matt Smith, owner and creator of The Bassroom. "In today's world you never know who has a camera or video phone and would enjoy the 10 minutes of fame by posting a video of you "caught in the act" on YouTube or similar social network websites. The price, privacy, and function of The Bassroom provides security and comfort for much less than the cost of embarrassment or possible legal fees for over-exposure while on the lake." says Smith.
The entire Bassroom system is stored in a handy transportation bag that can easily be tucked away in your boat until needed. With a total setup time of approximately a minute, you can quickly construct your Bassroom in times of an emergency and leave the unit assembled while you continue fishing or simply fold down and store.
Although created specifically with fishing in mind, the Bassroom is gaining popularity with hikers and campers who find the ease of transport and privacy a welcome addition to their trips.
"The feedback we have received from customers has shown a wide demographic range from young adventurers to Pro Anglers. The Bassroom is great for privacy, shade and rain shield for the entire family, including pets." says Smith.
The Bassroom system itself consists of 190T polyester material with access doors on both the front and back equipped with over-sized zippers for easy handling. The polyester is waterproof and flame-proof to assure safety and comfort. The waste disposal bags contained in the full Bassroom system are convenient zip-up bags constructed of a sturdy 2 mil plastic material which effectively and safely handle the waste storage and transporting.
Currently priced at $119.95 plus $10.00 shipping U.S. for the entire system, the Bassroom will provide years of service with proper handling and storage. Visit www.coveryourbass.com for more purchase details, videos, and product reviews from the experts.
Cover Your Bass (www.coveryourbass.com) Home of the Bassroom is located in Mesquite, Texas providing portable privacy for your boat. 1-972-849-4868.
PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT OUR PHOTO GALLERY-- The Bassroom can be set up on the back of a truck or on the ground, providing a private bathroom almost anywhere.
Matt Smith 972-849-4868
One of the purposes of the Bassroom System is to protect and improve the quality of our waters by providing recreational boaters and anglers with a convenient alternative to the overboard discharge of boat sewage.
Clean water is important to all of us. Two ways for recreational boaters to improve water quality is to stop the overboard discharge of sewage and never use lake
shoreline as a bathroom.
Sewage discharges are unsightly and contain disease-causing microorganisms. Bacteria and viruses can contaminate areas used for swimming, skiing, and fishing. The decaying sewage can also degrade aquatic habitats by reducing oxygen levels.
Be part of the solution:
Do not use lake shoreline as a bathroom.
Use the Bassroom System when out on the water.
Dispose of waste from portable toilets and on-board holding tanks properly.
Don't throw anything overboard.
Bring cut fishing line ashore.
Avoid discharging bilge waste into the water.
Be careful in fueling -- try to prevent oil and fuel spills.

Workingman Charters (http://www.workingmancharters.com)
Galveston Deep Sea Bluewater Fishing 90 mile trip
Well Captain Dan was able to finally get out with the seas laying 2-3' and made a fast run out to Bluewater he managed to top all his trips and bring in about a 75lb grouper and nice 55 lb amberjack and about a 50lb kingfish and found the shark still out deep as suspected .
But, we figure by the end of april first of may the sharks should be comming in closer. This proves deepwater fishing is the way to go for the BIG boy grouper. Boated about 6 vermillion snapper and 3 lane snapper.

3-13-21-2008 Galveston Bay Fishing ( Jetty Area )
I have had Captain Dan tearing up the jetties for the past week. So far the redfish is holding and so are the blackdrum, As of today the Sheephead (convicts) cause they steal your bait started showing up.No sharks yet but, should start showing up end of april. http://www.workingmancharters.com
(http://www.workingmancharters.com)
3-21-22-2008 Well, This trip never made it to Boomvang they ended up not having a big enough fuel tank so instead they just turned it into a bluewater trip to Tequila trying to catch whatever they could find. Boated several nice amberjack, kings and a load up vermillion snapper weighing pretty good size so everyone got fish.trolled but, found no wahoo then turned around and came back into dock.
3-21-30-2008 Captain Dan had a Galveston close in trip, Managed some statewater snapper,2 bullreds, several blackdrum released at boatside. Also on the latest trip he was catching sheephead
4-1-6-2008 Deep water trips are producing some Nice Big amberjack and grouper and grain feed vermillion snapper, Ling and wahoo are still scattered around the gardens so are the mako's. Dan brought me a report of a big one that decided he could get a free meal from his boat he did too he managed to bite in half a nice 40lb amberjack right in half. Thats adrenaline hahaha,, You just have to watch the weather blowing up. And be ready to take the first open hole out. http://www.workingmancharters.com
4-09-2008 Galveston bay Fishing- Fishing the bay has been getting slower with redfish and trout and sheephead. The winds have been pushing the water out of west bay and most boats haven't been able to get in and get any trout fishing done. The sheephead were showing up until the winds showed they are still there just very scattered. The redfish at the boat cut have slowed alot. Even the tift showed signs of fish patterns slowing down. Waters are warming Come On shark! No sharks yet but, should be showing in a few weeks.http://www.workingmancharters.com
Bluewater trips 4/12 and 4/16 had been posponed due to high winds and seas These trips will be rebooked
4-19-2008
This was a long range trip 75 miles out.
Sea's were not to bad. Made the run brought in Full limits for 4 people Amberjack,Kingfish were kinda scarce around stetson rock not a good bite we sat there awhile and only managed 1 kingfish so we moved on and managed a few more.Found a stray shark and brought him in, and managed full limits of vermillion snapper.
Haven't got any photo's of this trip. For Hire.
Right now we are only running deepwater trips and Bay fishing trips out of Galveston.
No Kings in close yet, wahoo are not in yet either, Most of what we fish for haven't moved in close will update when they do.
4-20-2008
I Had 3 Boats running jetty trips out this Sat-Sun. with 6 people onboard all Galveston boats brought limits of the legal keeper drum, sheephead all kept and boxed and cleaned at the dock and 1 no show at the boat on Sat. Very nice people. I will be adding alot of reports but, most are all Jetty trips right now. Unless Captain Dan Can calm the wind gods and be able to run. We had had alot of bluewater trips to 80 miles but, the winds have really keep us all at dock. We fish when we can get out.
4-22-2008 Galveston Bay Fishing Trip around the bay area dyke, bolivar, ship.
Bait was crab and shrimp and mommas chum
Captain Bill was for hire
Bringing in spanish mackeral, sheephead, gaftoptail, and caught and released a few Bonnet head sharks, He said the baby sharks were just that tiny babies.
Galveston Bluewater 4-22-2008
Brought in some nice amberjack, and ling, and kingfish and another nice size grouper and about 20 vermillion snapper and 2 lane. Fished about 70 miles out
Boat 3 and 4 Fished Galveston Jetty
Captain Mike and Marc fished at the jetty bringing in redfish and sheephead and a few gafttop and about 3 small drum
4-23-2008 Galveston Offshore Fishing - scouting trip
Had 2 boats out yesterday and found ling! from 25-30 lbs. Not big but, good eating fish brought in full limits. Captain Dan and Captain Bill's boats Ling are starting to migrate in around 40 miles offshore in Galveston, Lots of baby sharks really wouldn't even want to keep any of these, didn't find any kingfish spanish mackeral are scattered but, comming in. Did find a few stranger statewater red snapper about 2 of them weighing around 5lbs a piece about 6 miles out not to far pass the jetties. No mahi yet. It is still early we figure a couple more weeks and things should really light up offshore. Galveston seems to be holding some descent snapper this year. Big ling should be starting up in a week or so.
04-29-2008 Galveston Bluewater 80
Well it looks like the Bluewater trips are really paying off for everyone booking them.
With 2' less seas yesterday Lynn Had Captain Dan out deep. I must make a note here for everyone deep is out 80,Offshore is out to 50 miles. Captain Dan is running deep. I have also had alot of people thinking captain Dan's info is on my website no it is not you must book his trips through Lynn. Yes, I do own Workingman Charters. And no the rumors of me retiring is not true either. Ok now with this matter settled here is the report
seas like glass 2' less 6 people onboard limited out on Amberjack to 50lbs warsaw 50lb and a gag grouper
Limited out on kingfish,10 pp on vermillion full limits up to 12 lbs,6 lane snapper, ran out of fish room so in they came. Dan said the day was awsome. Not trying to pump ya'll up but, was a good day fishing

Offshore we have been bringing in some Nice ling, and snapper to 15lbs,found mahi scattered still, The weed lines have just been blown apart from all the winds we have had the smaller chicken dolphin there but, just haven't found them real heavy yet, kingfish as always not hard to find and yet at all and shark are abundant right now. Our advise don't pay for a shark trip if you go with a descent captain you should not have any problem of them finding you hahaha just tell your offshore captain you want a shark a good captain should not mind getting you one just make sure he will let you keep it..
We have seen shark pretty thick but, this year has been amazing with CB's latest being a 200lb bull shark now that is some real teeth action. We honestly think they should raise the limit to 2 not the legal 1 shark per boat, CB has boated a few wahoo but, not near as big so far as last year.. Dan hasn't been sending in photos at all so all we have is what he is telling lynn out deep fish are everywhere when he can hit it.
Mahi, ling, shark, kings and Nice amberjack and Blackfin from his boomvang trip bring in 57 of those fish.. The only difference in a offshore and deep trip is the amberjack and blackfin. WINDS GO AWAY ! Now in the bay we have a 23' flat Carolina skiff running a nice flatty boat going for reds, trout and skinny water flounder. The big cabins the whaler, seaswirl are bringing in reds, trout, jumping a few baby tarpon when we can but, we normally don't target these fish at all we go for more eating type of fish. Past few days haven't gotten any baby sharks at the jetties, been picking up sheephead pretty good size and rays.
Till next time

Remember :
Any fish is approachable if you are willing to go that xtra mile and try new things. You don't need a big boat to access these fish, my closet has been 12 miles out, but, I probably troll a good 30 miles each trip sometimes I get them and sometimes not but, just 1 wahoo can surely make a trip. I must say the only way I have even caught wahoo is trolling, you just need to know how to change your techniques and adapt to each situation that the ocean gives us..

Mays reports
5-2,3,4-2008 - galveston bay -Rough trips in galveston bay. But, managing trout, sheephead and a few gafttop.
5-5-18-2008 - Offshore fishing from Galveston and freeport - Fishing has been holding so far when we can get out. the smaller ling are started to get bigger, red snapper is looking pretty good for opening in june. Have managed a few amberjack just over legal size within 50 out of galveston and freeport, the sharks are definitly in and captain Dan says he wants to get into some trips. Kingfish are in, full force we been catching some really good one's. You could say everything accross the board is in now. Captain Bill hasn't had a deckhand on the last few trips so i have no pictures.
http://www.workingmancharters.com
5-19-2008 6:30 am, water was dirty all the way out but the seas were calm. Went to some rigs in 180ft water that he said have been holding AJ's. On board were 3 guys The action was non stop first fish was a big Jack Crevalle, had a hookup that came off, then another AJ that hit. while they were resting. Fishing different setups on one trip sure lets you see what you really like. After we each had a fish in the box, we caught and released a bunch of fish including endangered texas red snapper. I also dropped a live piggie to the bottom and caught a fish which i surely thought was a grouper or shark but was a 40" ling. We also tried some spots for vermillion snapper with squid but none were home. The highlights of the trip was seeing some kings in a feeding frenzy and jumping straigt up 20ft in the air. We also saw a barracuda eat a small AJ that one of the guys had on and then a huge AJ came up and ate the head and what was left of the small AJ. Its the wild kingdom out there.

5-20-08 Bay trip prices Bay fishing makes for great family fishing in galveston texas in the bay the trout are starting to load up sand and specs, sheephead can be found also around structure smaller sharks are being caught in the 3-4' range with a sometimes 5'ter. The gaftop catfish is back in full force some big ones are being brought in around 5-7lbs with a occ. 10lber. Haven't seen any summer flounder, but, they are probably are around bolivar flats you need to wade for these under lights at night be careful of the sting rays, whiting is everywhere right now also. Jetty fishing has been slowing down so I am now booking the full day bay fishing trips for trout, gaftop, redfish, smaller over legal shark. And the spanish mackeral are hopping around the jetty around.
http://www.workingmancharters.com
Offshore Galveston fishing reports 5-23-2008 The winds have made us pick and choose our fishing days offshore prices .Bill, Dan,Mike,Joel,Marc haven't seen any tarpon at all. The water temp up to 50 miles is 84-85 degrees now.The offshore sharks are comming in up to 5-7' for blacktips, have seen alot of tigers this year and hammerheads galore out of galveston.Unbelieveable the shark fishing has been pretty good so far out of galveston. The snapper is so ready right now nice and big. Since the number change think we will see more than what we can stand to give up resist the temptation marine officers will get you.All 5 boats are bringing in ling,a few mahi here and there hard to find right now, shark,we have been bringing in some big kings this year, amberjack from deep water along with some big grouper,Tuna is still comming in really good from boomvang and if you want yellowfin they are out in full force at Nansen rig deep deep water,On Nansen you will need the master so we have to arrange for bill to be onboard with Captain Dan. I also have a freeport captain to run nansen and boomvang
5-26-2008 trout and redfish fishing in galveston bay for the tripplett family. This trip was awsome Captain Bill really had a nice group on fished for 4 hrs. early morning left the dock around 5:00am and motored around to some different areas nice and quite no one out so we decided to anchor something he doesn't do very often, Boated about 6 good size croaker kids got a kick out of the noises they make and managed 2 sheephead, 6 gaftop catfish, and 3 specs all legal fish, They did manage 2 big redfish very worth a tag he said. He said kids were great very wel behaved water kids. The kids did managed to find the only ray in the bay hahaha and played that till they were exhausted it was fun guess you could hear them all the way to the cruise ship hahaha.. It was pretty muggy outside we fished until 9:00am then came in when the sun came up pretty good. Thanks for the good time I really enjoyed these people .what a sense of humor ! Don't forget to send Captain Bill those colored fish pictures boys I would love to post them on a new kids page I am starting.

Trout and croaker are in good sizes too nice keepers, sheephead is scattered at the jetty right now. Gafftop are comming in still up to 8lbs. I mean good size ones. We have seen and caught a few big reds but, not near as many as what we have been seening. Right now the main fishing is shark, trout, gafftop, croaker, a few reds mixed with slots. 5-29-2008 My gosh more SHARKS ! seems every bait you throw in comes in with shark. Funny had some kids onboard and their trout were being eaten by sharks of course Bill said the kids thought it was really cool and they were getting exhausted. But, Ole' Bill would have rather moved to get the trout bite better. But, it is the people's choice so they stayed. After a couple hrs. they agreed to move for some take home fish ended the day with 9 slot reds,1 big redfish,2 jetty snapper LEGAL,and 4 croaker oh and some nice gafftop weighed about 5lbs a piece. had a good cooler full of fish. August Fishing Report Galveston Freeport Texas
Well in Freeport Texas offshore fishing waters there is some really good fishing going on we are catching nice size ling 30lbs on up,kingfish up to 50lbs, a nice 25lb warsaw grouper when we can find them Captain Bill just brought in a real nice size one, haven't gotten any amberjack in awhile, Mahi is still pretty scattered but, we are getting them, no wahoo, vermillion is in full bloom and even lane snapper all in about 150' of water amazing and 1 red snapper over the banks went to about 4-5lbs yep a statewater snapper going to be a great year for statewater red snapper this winter. In galveston bay and jetty, I haven't got much to say because at dock no one is bringing in any fish whats up with that. The bay waters are extremely off color more the color of mud. About the only thing been catching is gaftop catfish and even that is scattered at best. The redfish should come back in when the waters clear up around late september. In my honest opinion a bay trip is definitly not worth it right now. I wish i could say something good about galveston right now but, looks like it will take awhile for those waters to clear up with rain, wind, then the storm poor galveston waters has been slam dunked..

Fishing week of August 25th in Galveston and Freeport, Redfish is picking back up on the morning bite at the jtties and beachfront of freeport, sharks in bloom on the Beachfront in nearshore waters, About 75 miles out we are meeting the shrimpers culling and pulling in a few blackfin tuna along with nice big sharks. Ling is out in full force still in freeport and galveston offshore waters, still bringing in a few mahi but, still pretty scattered we need about 10 days no wind to keep the weedlines together for some good ones. Haven't been getting alot of kingfish in but, then again we really haven't been trying for them since everyone is wanting frying fish. Captain Bill has been doing alot of for hire trips right now so he is getting range. Captain marc has been geting in on the shrimp boat action. Update on Captain Dan's Boat we have it back now from wellcraft and he is definitly ready to go get the BIG fish ! He managed a scouting trip for us on a friends contender and sure did find them. Report Follows Long
Remember this is a deep water trip- Photos also on tuna page of website - Fishing Fri,Sat,Sundays now
well my boat was in the shop this week and I had to cancel all my charters so i decided to round up all my fishing buddies and deck hands and go make a bluewater run to see what we could come up with. gave a buddy a call who gladly let me borrow his nice 32 contender.Made a last minute phone call to the buddies and everyone was pumped and ready for some blue water action. we wanted to leave out super early to try to get to the gardens by sunrise until we realized that we would have to get gas in the morning and the fuel dock didnt open til 6am. BUMMER! so we decided to head south instead to hit some rocks and look for shrimpers. On the way out we stopped to make some bait at a couple of rigs and on the second rig picked up 2 keeper ling one being 58 lbs! nice way to start the day. there were a few more small keepers skattered along with the big one but we didnt want to waste anymore time messing with them after already spending 30 mins pulling up the big boy so we decided to keep on truckin.made our way out to the intersection rigs about 10 am and started picking up good bites on the jigs only to brake them off in the rig. so we decided to bring out the big guns and live baits. boated 2 nice aj's over 30 lbs and then 4 more good keepers to finish off our limit. had to bump a few rigs to get em but we found em.we saw some shrimpers a little further so we decided to take a shot at them, afterall thats the real reason we wanted to get out there, the ajs were just in case we got skunked on the shrimpers... first boat we pulled up to reminded me of a trip to sea world when i was a kid. so many different kinds of fish, we saw bonita, dolphins, ling, shark, and TUNA! they were there and hungry!! after picking our way through about 100 bonita we finally boated our 7th bFT and the ice chest was full and we were out of bait... also saw about a 50 lb hooter come to see what the action was about but wouldnt even look at a live bait, weird...all in all we had a great day...
final tally:
2 ling biggest 58 lbs
6 aj's biggest 38 lbs
7 bft 25 - 31 lbs and 2 chicken dolphins

March 16,2009 Well when the winds have let up we have been fishing. Looks like the last big front is now gone and we have spring weather with the high's in the 80's beautiful weather to fish waters laying down and boats getting out. The Big black drum are definitly in and so are the red drum(bullreds) Here is a idea of how Big captain Mike is bringing in.Here is a few happy customers from Galveston. Start getting those dates ready I will start booking my kingfish and shark trips.Thank you all the calls and emails looking forward to yall being on our boats we have some really good captains. I promise to start adding more reports it is about to get really busy for us. I should be adding reports everyday this week. I do have a few dates left this week so give me a call.
March 16.2009 Galveston Jetty had Dan out today with a great family catch and release alot of sheephead (kept 20) they were everywhere limited out on Big bull reds and got some gafftop ended with a nice cooler of fillets. Take Care Garry see yall next time......Lynn hey would like some pictures of that catch with your family. These photos are comming
March 17,2009 - wow the jetty trips have been very productive this week beautiful weather great seas. Jetty's are producing blackdrum, bullreds, sheepheads are in . in big number allowing 5 pp definitly not having any trouble with the bite.
March 18.2009 No redfish on this trip but, still good numbers of sheephead, and a few blackdrum released.
March 19.2009 well all I can say is another good day on the water caught redfish, blackdrum, sheephead and the sheephead are still holding their own every trip we are seeing so many fish most are caught and released.
March 20-21.2009 Report for Saturday the spanish mackeral are now in so along with sheephead we are bringing in spanish mackeral 15 per person, redfish are comming back in full limits after a slack off this week. So now we can tell you if you want to fill the box come get it.///// Lynn I do have pictures in I just need to post them up. 2 boats out and had the best catch's of the day. Look at the size of these redfish(spanish Mackeral-related to the kingfish-king mackeral not greasy good grilled smaller than it's partner the king. the run should last 7 days maybe a few more.
March 22.2009 Bay was alittle sporty today but, not bad enough for these guys they specially came in to fish the spanish mackeral and sheephead that is all they wanted for 6 guys we had a very nice cooler full of fillets. This was a great trip these same guys have been fishing with me,bill, dan for 5 years now and over 10 trips from tuna to redfish, get this talking about a rival trip texas tech and A&M was a tied trip as they say. I decided to wake up early this morning and treat these college guys who have put their fishing trust in us for so long heated up my oil and pot and made these guys some southern friend chicken and a homemade poundcake guess what no leftovers hahaha.. They did enjoy Dan's new boat they raved more about the boat than fishing hahaha although they said they knew they would catch fish they sure liked it better than Dan's other boat. I posted up limits and sizes here updated from TP&W http://www.workingmancharters.com/texas_fishing.html

We have had some really good trips lately when we could get out. Winds lay done already ! Just what everyone wanted to hear the ling are comming in to around 40 mies out right, remember this is the migration period and it should be turning on really good for ling this summer, Had a good report from a larger boat that roughed the seas at 7' out around 40 miles and caught some big ling up to 80 lbs. If you can brave the seas it is out to be had , right now no mahi as of yet once we start seeing the winds lay down they should start comming in and we will see tons of weedlines although if you want the big ling and mahi opt for end of june-july they seem to really love the warmer water. Sharks are everywhere right now, amberjack are out around 70miles everything else seems to be starting to migrate closer in. The bay is giving up redfish, bay sharks, trout sand and specs.
Take care see ya next trip!

Had another excellent group on the water today with Captain Bill and captain Jesse. This was suppose to be a shark trip but, it was just a might bit choppy for us to take people out in good choice because Lynn had started to hear complaints from others who had choose another and first thing they always ask what sea's would you consider not runnable I myself would say nothing offshore over 4' you just hang on get sick and don't have good time which is what you booked for. No fish is ever worth going out in unsafe conditions. I don't care what kind of boat you are in and I don't care how cheap your trip is you must research your captain it is a trust game and unfortunatly the cheaper trips is sometimes not the way to go. Now for our trip to the jetties. We all had fun on this trip catching about the same as yesterday but, did get a small bonnet head shark which we released. The people are what makes our trips so great of course the entertainment is also good hahaha. You guys are more than welcome back on our boats was a real pleasure meeting these people friends and family scattered from all over comming together for a trip was just a good day.Thank you to everyone who booked our boats this weekend just exceptional can I really say more. Fishing Caught 2 bullreds, 12 slot reds,5 gaftop, 1 bonnet head shark released, the cut bait type fish Ladyfish caught about a dozen of those things released,Bullred bite is sure getting better. Had a very interesting trip today turned into a bay trip after having a real turning sea today. Ling at the JETTIES ! No way Yes way! After leaving dock this morning Captain Jesse was met with some rough sea conditions at the jetties so turned this shark trip into a very productive bay trip. Get this already had full limts of redfish by 9:30am and then started the trout ending with specks and sand trout. Then all the sudden a huge tug on the line not knowing what laid in store for them with 20lb line on you got it a ling of all things I have heard guys catching many things at the jetties but, mangrove snapper were also being caught today in the bay. Odd day fishing but, what a interesting day it was. Shows you , you never know what you will get at the jetties. So this day ended around 2:00-2:30 with Limits of redfish,Trout specks and sand, I lost ling, limit spanish mackeral, Way to go Jesse!

May 20,2009 Offshore trips are heating up !
Had Dan out today at 80 miles was a bit choppy with seas being alittle rough in the morning flattening out more after 10:00am the further you got. Saw alot of big sharks today wouldn't want to jump off the boat. Right off the bat landed a nice 70 lb ling, and everything got better had a double kingfish hookup now what a sight dan said that was. Got in around 7:00pm tonight bringing in 6 ling from around 35-70lbs, limit of kingfish for 6 guys,1 blacktip around 5 1/2 ' now that was something! 5 amberjack, 1 nice grouper.

All the guys got photo's of their trips today I will be posting these up soon. The biggest ling went 51 lbs it was a hoss brought in from 50 miles and the smallest on any of the boats went around 35 lbs. still not a bad ling. Captain Bill was kept inshore until permits come in for the boat bringing in limits of bullreds all tagged, gaftop, croaker. All the guys commented on the weather and the customers made choices to weather it and stayed out. Now this weekend we had some real troopers out there. Guess no one melted hahaha rain was very heavy at times and did hinder fishing at times but, no one came in empty.. This is the 51 lb ling dan brought in for the Hall of Fame Tournament well we saw today

The Oilmans was in the works had every boat I book out fishing I am going to make this short since it was just fishing a tournament all boat left out at 5:30am. Captain dan place 4th place kingfish , captain Jesse Won Redfish division comming in with a 27 1/2 redfish , Captain Bill didn't place but, did bring in a decent catch tried weighing in 2 kingfish but, didn't place came in close this year. Was tough fishing yesterday so many boats fished this tournament boy sure was nice having a slip to pull into. Heard several comments that offshore looked like a parking lot most winning fish in from 65+ miles. Our customers only booked 50 mile trips. Oh Captain Bill did find the weedlines mahi (chickens) were home. Unfortunatly the ling were not. For my 50 mile trips out I believe for May fishing my guys did a excellent job. Also just found out the Grady has a 235 gallon tank so Bill should be able to do some good runs on this boat.

It was great to see that.

As soon as Carla sends me photos I will post them up.

August 2,2009
Been having alot of trips this week for the jetties and Deep out to 70 miles out. On the jetty trips we have been bringing in some decent specks, and sand trout, and slot reds, Bullreds are picking up and biting pretty good also. Out deep I have been bring in some big kingfish, limits of nice snapper up to 18lbs and some nice 6' blacktip shark. The water has started to heat up more than normal on the 50 mile trips all the mahi are at the tidal rips out about 62 miles and when have sure been bringing in nice limits of them last trip we boated about 80 chicken dolphin. Ling are out deep I am guessing the water temp has so much to do this and come sept this fishing should be better closer in at 50 miles. We have been hitting the shrimpers and banging the fish when we can get through the sharks. Blackfin are holding out about 80 miles so are the big wahoo up to 100 lbs.
August 3,2009
Had a family of 7 for Monday which we had to split up into 2 trips the ladies did a jetty and the guys went for red snapper. First time I have ever done a trip where we hit dock split up and went back out to let the rest fish. Bascially a statewater trip is what we ran having 18" snapper keepers at the reef and bonnet head sharks and Bullreds at the jetties. Travis's mom did managed a 6' blacktip got to the boat and when Randy hit the gaff that was all she wrote that shark was green and came alive breaking the line. On this trip we used 40 lb. test not my usuall 80 lb. Lynn is posting photo's. No doubt these people were fisherpeople and could feel the bite thanks everyone Randy and I really enjoyed having you guys onboard.
August 4
Ran a Jetty trip out half day, Fisherman, Everything that hit they brought in actually had to start thrwoing back bullreds, and the slots was a fun trip.
August 5
Jetty Trip for 6 people busy 1/2 day finally seems the bay trips are better than offshore right now unless you make about a 75 mile run.
On the jetty trips i am bringing in slot reds, bullreds, shark from 5 1/2' to 6 ' seems the normal, also bringing in spotty red snapper inshore, trout specs and sand, scattered spanish mackeral
Aug 7
Offshore up to 50 miles bringing in spotty catch's at best think the water temp has really started to chase the fish bringing in red snapper, a few spanish mackeral, spotty kings no ling or mahi.
Aug 8
Offshore up to 50 again still about the same thing I checked out all my best spots the only thing I can think of is the fish have made a deep run now. Checked with Dan after he made a 75 mile run he brought in 20 lb snapper with only 1 king nothing else. So with this being One of the hottest summers on record I believe the fish have took a sabaticle and ran deep.
These photos are from 60-75 mile trips I have ran the past few weeks

:) Ok new to this forum so HELLO to everyone. I am a fishing guide on Galveston Bay in Texas and I will start posting reports on here. Before I start this report I want to let everyone know that fishing in Galveston is great! I have an article on my fishing blog (Galveston Island One Year After Hurricane Ike) that you should read. Ok here's the report: Fall is here and fishing has started to heat up! Two to three weeks ago fishing was a bit slow, but in the past 2 weeks I have seen a huge change and the fishing has really picked up. At the beginning of fall we were catching fish, but the trout we were catching were undersized trout 13-16 inch trout. Our ratio of throw backs to keepers were around 1 out of 6. Now we are on better schools with more keeper trout and the sand trout and gulf trout action is non stop at times. We are mainly using soft plastics to catch our fish and depending on the weather we have used live shrimp under a cork at some locations. We are pretty much fishing under the birds in Trinity Bay and when they aren’t working, we are drifting some reefs or anchored on the shoreline. Fall is typically a great time to take a trip, the weather is usually great and fishing is even better. It’s a great time to get the family out one last time before winter comes. Flounder fishing is at it's best right now, but we aren't booking too many flounder trips due to the limit change (2 per person per day) We should book some trips for December since the limit goes back up to 5 per person. Don't ignore those new limits, I have seen around 10 people get arrested over the past 2 weeks! Ok until next time, see you on the water.

Well this time of the year fishing can be outstanding and most anglers just don’t take advantage of it! I do understand that the weather plays a huge role in people not fishing this time of the year and people are out shopping or staying home because it is cold, but if you really want to have a great day fishing Dec. is a great month to go. Limits of trout have been the norm lately and the flounder have been biting. I have noticed that the flounder we have been catching seem to be bigger this year. Five pound flounder are being caught daily by most anglers. Of course weather is are main culprit this time of the year, but when we get on the water the fishing has been good. We have been fishing up north for a couple of months now, mainly Trinity Bay using soft plastics to catch most of our fish. The bigger trout are being caught over shell in shallow water. West Bay is starting to produce good trout so we will start fishing it soon. The flounder are still around the channel and around Seawolf Park. In a week or two the flounder run will be over. Even though fishing might not be a priority right now, if you want to get out one last time before next year or purchase a gift certificate for someone special for Christmas give us a call. Well until next time, see you on the water.

:) Well it is already Feb. and Spring is coming up. Spring is consistently a great time to fish, getting the kids out for a spring break trip is always a good idea. Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a kids face after a great day of fishing. March is also a great time for catching speckled trout and from what I have experienced and have been told by my peers, fishing in Spring and Summer has been outstanding after a very cold winter. So I look forward to some awesome fishing in the next couple of months! Don't worry about a fish kill, most of the fish that has been killed is bait fish and trash fish. Now I'm sure some quality fish have also been effected, but not to a point that it should have any negative effect on future fishing. I haven't been on the water too much lately, due to minor boat repairs, sponsor events and some really cold and windy weather. I have been talking to some guides that have been having some great days on the water and catching some big trout (6-8 pound trout). When the weather has been decent, the fish are being caught. Now as far as location protected areas far north and some areas in West bay have been the best. Most of the same hot spots that people fish every winter. Soft plastics and live shrimp under a cork (if you can find it) has produced the best results. Waders are using top water baits to catch most of those big trout. When I get on the water on a regular basis in about 2 weeks, I will post a more informational report. Well until next time, see you on the water.

ok I am going to combine all my Galveston Texas Fishing trip reports
March 1-6,2011Well after a few hit or miss trips finally found the fish. The sheepheads and whiting and black drum are finally in . Sorry about all the missing reports lynn has had the flu bug really bad the last 3 weeks . Here is the photo from todays aggie trip. Great bunch of guy's. March13,2010 What a great trip today good customers and a very good deckhand. Had full limit for 6 guys 2 dads and 2 sons, tally for today all sheepheads and they were big enjoy todays pictures. March 15,2011Spring Break you gotta love the seasons here in Texas beautiful weather today and great fishing the sheep head are holding out and once again I had some great customers catching a limit was the adults and kids. We will post up photo's later. Thank you George, Bill March 16,2011Sheephead again haven't been seeing as many boats out I had a 6 person charters and ended up with way to many fish but, my customers had a ball these guys had a lady onboard and every hookup she brought one in we actually limited out in about 2 hrs. stayed out fished around some looking for trout nothing so we went back to the jetties and stated catching again. Eas a good day. Just might bit choppy but, on a 35' boat no problem... March 26,2011 I can see now I am definitly going to have to add more photo pages that way everyone can see all the catch pictures, Todays trip Had canadians onboard these people turned out to be pretty good fishermen to have never experienced saltwater fishing. Think they really liked it. Below top right is the Parkers. with their limit for 6 of sheephead. March 27,2011Well I had a group today that knew how to have a good time. Once again everyone caught fish. Had 1 lady onboard Lisa who seemed to be catching most the fish. We had full limit for 6 people once again and had spanish mackeral starting to be caught managed 2 that were 16-19". a 6 hr. trip turned out to be a very fun day for all of us. Thank you Jacob and Lisa for a another great day on the water. March 28 ,2011 Ran a deepwater trip on Monday yes the predictions were correct it was a good 6-8' rollers out with lots of wind spray but, Toby and his group were ready to fish and gung ho for anything. Catch of the day were vermillion snapper, gray triggers, 2 very nice released grouper, so many red snapper top water you couldn't get through to the kingfish, I can tell you when the boat stopped we had huge snapper comming up all were released and lived. If red snapper limits dont go up this year we will be covered with big snapper. no kingfish were found or caught , no ling yet, limit for 6 lesser amberjack. March 30,2011 Well, you can mark yesterday as a wierd weather day. Had a 75m booked was rough that morning throughout the day so we made the call the jetties would be the plan. Brought in a full limit of sheephead for the Larew's who were real troopers , Alittle disappointed no deep trip could be ran but, safety first. It laid down around 4:00pm but, by then it was just way to late to make a run. It was a pretty good day only saw 1 other small boat at the jetty which didn't hang long and he was gone. I don't have many April days left so if you want to hook up a jetty trip better get in now.

April 1,2011 Short report got ling (3) ,amberjack-lessor & greater full limits, 6 vermillion and trigger fish, We were going for bigger fish on this trip not snapper, although we did get into some hue snapper all released to live till june April 3,2011We had a trip today to the jetty with 5 kids + the dad.Turned out to be good day on the water what a sunday This was a great trip we were able to keep the kids busy for 7 hrs. today. The garry's have been with been on several trips and i do believe they have found their captain. Today's catch consisted of Bulreds, blackdrum, sheephead, what was kept was sheephead, Blackdrum is catch and release only. The video turned out great on the kids page you will find the fishing photo's of today and the past few days we also have new video up. April 6,2011 Ran another jetty trip had the peasure of taking out someone from New Brunswick,Canada this time Kim and John managed limits of Billreds tagged ( new name) haha gaftop that were huge, sheephead limits.
Remember when booking a jetty trip discuss what fish you will be keeping and catching. On some boats just because u catch it doesn't mean they will keep it. Ask Ask Ask
April 21,2011 had a great catch today had the woods family onboard they turned out to be some pretty good fisherman. had just 2 people onboard the boat today and if we would have had more we would have been there hrs, cleaning fish. Catch was full limit of puppy drum, slot red fish, sheephead. April 22,2011 Had the pleasure of having the Milner's on the boat today was a good trip managed about 30 sand trout, sheephead and gafttop. windy but, beautiful weather. April 29,2011 Had a great trip today with 6 guys. The winds were blowing but, the bigger center consoles are not having trouble out at the jetties. We brought in limits of slots(smaller redfish) and bull reds the big ones you tag with a tag that comes on your license. They fish bite was so fast we had limits of the slots in no time at all and bullreds chasing them. For slot limits 3 per person and bulls 1 person. Just a great all around fishing trip. We were having 2 on the floor at times double and tripple hookups was a fast trip. So the guys caught and released all they wanted. I have some great videos of this trip either slide over to our video page or check out Lynn's video on http://www.youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com/) just search aggiemomx1 April 30,2011 This morning it was pretty windy but, we made the run to the jetties while fishing was slow at first it picked up scattered fish biting in all areas we hit. Ashley and her group were excellent fisher people the ladies did not have a problem at all with the bite. everything we found were really hungry. brought in slot reds, croaker, sheephead, puppy drum, sand trout. a real assortment for the fryer. You guys will be more than welcome back on finsanity.

Galveston deep sea fishing Charters

:) Hello everyone! It has been some time since I last posted a fishing report on here. Sorry about that, I will try to post more reports this year. As for fishing down here in Galveston it has been getting a lot better. Over the winter it was hit or miss for us. Lately the fishing has picked up, especially when the weather has been good. The jetties are producing real well right now. We are catching some real nice redfish, sheepheed and drum daily. East bay has been good for trout and reds. Waders are doing the best over there with top waters. West bay is also getting right; using live shrimp under a cork has been the best method behind confederate reef. I'm looking forward to a great year of fishing and I will post another report on here soon. Until next time, see you on the water.
Capt. Alan
