Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Reports 8/25/2008
By Capt. Jim Hirt
The wind is west the wind is east. Key in on 50 degree temperature for success. Surface temperature is 70 with the Temperature break at 60 feet. Currently the action down is at 65 to 120 feet. We are catching mostly Chinook and Lake Trout. The fish are from the 100 to 210 feet of water. The best action is over 150 feet east of the Filtration Plant and north. Church Walleye planer boards with 10 color Cortland Kerplunk leadcore and 300 feet of copper wire are taking Chinooks. For all species on sunny days use Reaper Magnum Monkey Puke, Peacock, Fish n Chip and Big Joe Silver spoons. Use all glow spoons early in the morning, down deep and overcast days. On overcast days and low light try the Reaper Magnum Blue Fox Glow spoons. We are getting good reports of action in the warm water conditions on both sides of Lake Michigan on these glow spoons. This makes sense as most of the fish are coming deep and the glow spoons are most visible for the fish in deep water presentations. For you anglers that have not tried the Reaper and Vulcan from Badger Tackle.com I recommend you give them a try. They are offering a buy 4 and get 1 free at this time. The fish ranged in size from 3 to 21 pounds. The 4-year-old Chinook have been active the last several days. I have found some marks of big fish in the river although reports are this action on spawners has not started. I am finding the big guys cruising around in the top 50 feet as well as in the colder water. Trolling at 1.8 to 2.0 miles per hour at the ball will get more fish. Experiment with speed up to 2.6 MPH. Lately a faster speed has worked for the big Chins. The only place you will find Reaper and Vulcan spoons is on the Badger Tackle web site at http://www.badgertackle.com Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Reports 9/9/2008
By Capt. Jim Hirt
West wind is improving fishing. The cold water is moving in and the strong north to south current has been diminished in most areas. The last three days of west wind has brought the temperature break to 65 feet. With currents down presentation is easier. Correct boat speed and presentation has been the answer to catching fish. Key in on 50 degree temperature for success. The Temperature break is moving each day and will roll like a hill. When you find action turn 180 degrees and go over that area again. Currently the action down is at 50 to 100 feet. We are catching mostly 2 and 3 year Chinooks on Reaper magnum glow or silver spoons. The fish are in 65 to 160 feet of water. The best action is over 80 feet east of the Filtration Plant and north for 2 and 3 year old Chinook. Four year old Chins are in the warm water with hot action some days and very slow on others. The harbor gaps are producing intermittently this should improve soon. You can also look for them outside the harbor and out to 55 feet of water. You can fish them on magnum spoons or J-plugs. The Church Walleye planer boards with Cortland Kerplunk leadcore have been slow. For all species on sunny days use Reaper Magnum Monkey Puke, Peacock, Fish n Chip and Big Joe Silver spoons. Use all glow spoons early in the morning and inside the harbor. For anglers that have not tried the Reaper and Vulcan spoons from Badger Tackle.com I recommend you give them a try. They are offering a buy 4 and get 1 free at this time. The fish ranged in size from 5 to 12 pounds. Trolling at 2.2 to 2.6 miles per hour at the ball will get more fish. Lately a faster speed has worked for the big Chins. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Reports 6/8/2009
By Capt. Jim Hirt
June has started with decent fishing for Chinook, Coho and Lake Trout. Deep and shallow water are all producing.

Patterns and program under 40 feet
There are two different options for fishing, which should produce for all big and small boat anglers. Around the harbor break wall gaps we are taking Coho Chinook and Browns. This is an all spoon bite for Chinook on downriggers. With Coho coming on Church Walleye Planner Boards with 25-foot leads and 3/8-ounce weight. OO dodgers or 6-inch flashers and medium blue or green flies are my go to bait for Coho. When the gaps are slow move out northeast. Switch the presentation to five and eight color leadcore on boards or downriggers 25 to 48 down with all spoons. Our best spoons have been the blue and green Magnum Reaper Peacock or the Reaper Magnum Fish n Chip. When the wind and waves keep you in, the gaps will produce. Water is still cold at 48 degrees and fish may be scattered.

Patterns and program 65 to 140 feet
Out in the deeper water northeast of Milwaukee is the best fishing for Chinook, Lake Trout and Coho. Our fish came on Magnum Reaper spoons for Chinook, Lake Trout or OO dodgers or 6-inch flashers and medium blue or green flies for Coho. Experiment with lengths of the fly leader to the dodger or flasher. Start with 3 times the length of the attractor. The standard presentation for Coho is Church Walleye Planner Boards with 25-foot leads and 3/8-ounce weight. The water is very clear and you must run the spoons 50 to 100 behind the downrigger weight 70 to 100 down to get Lakers.
Some of our best producing spoons have been Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver and Magnum Fish n Chip on sunny days. Try the Reaper Magnum Glow spoons on overcast cloudy days. For small spoons the Vulcan Dolphin Green Silver and combinations of silver spoons with green or blue accent colors. I tried plugs with no action. Run the boat speed at 1.9 to 2.3 MPH. Vulcans, Nestor Wobblers and Reapers are sold only on the web at http://www.badgertackle.com Have a great fishing season. Let's go fishing!! Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. I have not fished in close to shore during the past week. Reports from other anglers that did fish in tell me that there are fish to catch near shore. Around the harbor break wall gaps anglers are taking Coho Chinook and Browns. This is a all spoon bite for Chinook and Browns on downriggers. Run them long behind the ball and staggered every 10 feet from top to bottom. The Coho are coming on Church Walleye Planner Boards with OO dodgers or 6-inch flashers and medium blue or green flies are my go to bait for Coho. Our best spoons have been the blue and green Magnum Reaper Peacock or the Reaper Magnum Fish n Chip. When the wind and waves keep you in, the gaps will produce. Water temp are up to 55 degrees in most areas.

Patterns and program 65 to 150 feet

The standard presentation for Coho is Church Walleye Planner Boards with 25-foot leads and 3/8-ounce weight.

The water is very clear and you must run the spoons 50 to 100 behind the downrigger weight 70 to 130 down to get Lakers. The Rainbows have been 45 down in 120 feet of water on regular size Vulcan or Reaper spoons.

Some of our best producing spoons have been Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver and Magnum Fish n Chip on sunny days. Try the Reaper Magnum Glow spoons on overcast cloudy days. The fish are scattered on Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee. Action is in 76 to 270 feet. Set up at 50 feet and run spoons every 10 feet from top to the bottom. Magnum spoons have been my best producer for the last five days.

Patterns and program under 45 feet
The west wind has moved the warm water out and near shore fishing should pick up for shore anglers and boat anglers around the harbor break wall gaps. I fished this area for about an hour on Sunday and picked up one Chinook about twenty pounds 27 down on a Magnum Reaper Peacock spoon. West wind is forecasted for the next two days and this spot is worth a look if you are coming out soon.

Patterns and program 70 to 270 feet
Out in the deeper water northeast of Milwaukee is the best fishing for Chinook, Rainbow, Lake Trout and Coho. I start off the Water Filtration Plant in 50 feet of water and work north and east.

West wind is providing 45 degree water near shore with steady and consistent action for all species. Most presentations are working and anglers are enjoying action on Chinooks, Coho and huge Lake Trout. We had a Laker over twenty pounds this past week. Set up in 40 feet and run spoons 15 to 35 feet down for some of the best fishing of the season. Eleven almost twelve year old Adam Brigmann battled this 11 pound 4 ounce Coho to a successful end.

Patterns and program 40 to 80 feet
The temperature break to 50 degrees is at 20 feet down in most areas. The deepest we have caught fish is 60 feet down with the majority of our fish coming above 45 feet. I start off the north gap in 40 feet of water and work northeast.

You will find steady action on mostly Chinooks with three, five and six color leadcore with Vulcan Magnum spoons. For small spoons the Vulcan Dolphin Green Silver and combinations of silver spoons with green or blue accent colors. Run the boat speed at 1.6 to 2.1 MPH. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 8/31/09
By Capt. Jim Hirt
If you were waiting for east wind it has arrived. A temperature break has set up in 80 to 125 feet of water. The best action for Chinooks and Rainbow Trout is 25 to 70 down. Church Tackle lighted 8 inch Revelators with green or white flies or magnum spoons are taking all size fish. Shore, gap and near shore action for pier and small boat anglers has slowed to a crawl. Jenny Michel wrestled with this 21.5 pound German Brown Trout till her arms ached. Her efforts landed the biggest Brown to this point in the season.

Patterns and program for the harbor and gaps.
The areas around the harbor break walls and gaps have been very slow. Fish them at first and last light of the day for Brown Trout. I have not had or heard of any spawning Chinooks they should be in soon. Shore anglers are getting some fish with Vulcan regular size Glow spoons before sunrise or live bait.

Patterns and program 80 to 125 feet
The temperature break to 50 degrees is at 40 feet down. The deepest we have caught fish is 70 feet down with the majority of our fish coming 25 to 50 feet. I start off the main gap in 80 feet of water and work northeast. The last couple of days I have seen more 4-year-old Chinooks gathering for their run up the river.

You will find action on mostly Chinooks or Rainbows with five, six, eight and ten color leadcore with Badger Tackle Vulcan and Reaper Magnum spoons. Downriggers or leadcores 25 to 70 down are taking all size Chinooks and eight to ten pound Rainbows. I use Church Walleye Planner Boards for all my lead cores.

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 9/29/09
By Capt. Jim Hirt
Gale force winds will change everything. The water temperature will be the key to finding fish on your next trip out. As of Sunday morning the warm water is in and the fish were out. A temperature break was in 100 to 140 feet of water. The best action for Chinooks was 55 to 120 down. Magnum spoons the best option for all size fish. Jeff and Andy Georgin of Cincinnati had a great morning with some nice Chinooks.

Patterns and program for the harbor and gaps.
The areas around the harbor break walls and gaps have been improving and the best is yet to come. Fish them at first and last light of the day for a few Chinook and Brown Trout. Shore and boat anglers are getting some fish with Vulcan magnum size Glow spoons and j-plugs before sunrise.

The temperature break to 52 degrees is at least 100 feet down. The deepest we have caught fish is 125 feet down with the majority of our fish coming 75 to 110 feet down. This is my recommendation for location after the gale force wind. Head out 60 degrees from the north gap and set up in 40 feet of water. Check the down temperature and key on 52 degrees. Use Fish Fry Magnum Glow Spoons at first light working lines at all depths.

You will find action on mostly Rainbows with five, six, eight and ten color leadcore with Badger Tackle Vulcan and Reaper Magnum spoons. Downriggers 65 to 120 down are taking all size Chinooks. I use Church Walleye Planner Boards for all my lead cores.

Fish Report 4/25/2010 Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan
By Capt. Jim Hirt
April fishing remains very good when you can get out. The weather has created some problems with presentation and access to the best fishing areas. Most of our charter trips are catching limits on Lake Trout with good numbers on Brown Trout as well. East wind has caused the water to become cloudy near the shore and harbor gaps. Glow spoons like the Nestor Wobbler Sun Burn are taking fish in this cloudy water. The water flowing into Milwaukee harbor is 58 degrees and the water at the river mouth is too stained to produce fish. We have been fishing the temp breaks at the harbor gaps and north of Milwaukee in 35 to 50 feet of water. Lots of bait fish around. Our best presentations are 3,4,5,and 6 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 20 to 35 feet down. The fish have been mostly been on magnum spoons. The Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver spoon by Badger Tackle have caught most of our fish sold at http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) Michigan Stinger NBK and most of their silver orange spoons are also working for browns. Depending on wind direction the north and south gaps are producing fish. Chinook fishing has been slow they should show up in numbers soon. Our best boat speed is 2.1 mph. Slide Divers are producing very well set to #1 with 35 feet of line out. Have a great fishing season. Let's go fishing!! Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Reports 5/4/2010
By Capt. Jim Hirt
Early May fishing has been medium at best. We’re taking a mixed bag of Chinooks, Coho and Brown Trout. You may target your species by working the temps the fish like. The Milwaukee harbor and gaps are holding the best Brown Trout fishing. This warm water fish is finding the best temp where the water flows out of the harbor. All size spoons in orange and silver are working also the Nestor Wobbler Sun Burn Glow has been a regular producer. Coho are north and south in 30 to 50 feet of water in the top 15 feet. No big numbers on Coho yet but this should improve in the next week. Orange 6 inch flashers or dodgers with green Johnny flies are my go to bait for Coho. There has been a morning and evening bite on the big Kings. Mid day is when we are catching most of our Coho and smaller Browns. On the early and sunset bite bigger spoons and plugs have produced fish. The Vulcan Silver, Reaper Magnum Peacock or J-plugs #3 silver and some fish on glow spoons in the larger sizes are working for kings. Downriggers 14 -24 down and Slide Divers at 10 to 20 feet have been best. I hear some of the boats have been out in deeper water but the water inside of 50 feet has worked for us. The boat speed of 2.2-2.5 gave the best results. Vulcans, Nestor Wobblers and Reapers are sold only on the web at http://www.badgertackle.com Have a great fishing season. Let's go fishing!! May Coho season is in full swing. Great numbers on these tasty 4 pound fish is being enjoyed by all. As a bonus we have found a presentation for Chinooks in the 4-6 pound range. A combination of Chinooks and Coho is filling the box up quickly. Let me tell you where and what to use. To see my video fish report go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/)
For Coho you can’t go wrong with 6-inch orange flashers and dodgers with blue or green small flies. Spoons in most sizes in green and yellow with glow paint has been also working well. My best fly has been the Aqua Johnny fly. The Reaper Fish Fry glow spoon in regular or magnum is the answer for anglers that do not do well with flashers and flies.
For Chinook an all spoon presentation of any size in green glow will get the job done. The Reaper Fish Fry from Badger Tackle is providing steady action.
Coho are south of the main gap in 80 to 150 feet of water in the top 40 feet. Chinook are in the same area with a deeper presentation of 45 to 60 down on downriggers 60 feet behind the ball

To see my how to video fish report go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/)
With 59 degree surface temperature 2,3,4,5,6 and 8 color lead core are working. Travel northeast out of the North Gap about 3 miles at a 50 degrees compass for the cold water that holds the fish. We’re back to more consistent action on all species in a variety of sizes. As usual temperature is the key. Most productive presentation the last several days has been Magnum Reaper spoons in silver with green or blue green accent stripes. The Magnum Peacock and Fish n Chip have been my go to spoon for my 5, 6, 8 and 10 color lead cores. Downriggers are also producing with the same spoons and some flasher flies. The best depths for downriggers have been 45, 60, 70 and 100 feet. The fish are down deeper from my last report. The fish are in depths of 90 to 170 feet of water. Lake Trout are always available even on the slower days when you slow the boat down to 1.5 MPH measured at the ball with the Depth Raider. The Depth Raider is an essential part of your tools for trolling with the current we have on Lake Michigan. Speed up to 2.1 when working the Kings Let me tell you where and what to use. Widely scattered is the best way to describe recent action for salmon and trout Milwaukee. You must present tackle for all species from the top ten feet of water to the bottom in all depths you fish. A nice mixed bag will be your reward. On the high lines (2,3, and 4 color lead core) the Vulcan regular size Dolphin Green Silver is picking up Rainbow Trout. Temperature is the answer to more fish. You will find action from 30 to 106 down when the temps are right. Look for 50 degrees and run tackle above and below the temp break. This is the place in the water column where you see a dramatic shift from the warmer surface water to the colder deeper water. This break moves with the wind and is different every day. You must present tackle for all species from the top ten feet of water to the bottom in all depths you fish. I would like to be more specific however it doesn’t work that way. Yesterday the best action was in 80 to 90 feet and you can bet that this will change tomorrow.
A nice mixed bag will be your reward. On the high lines (2,3, and 4 color lead core) the Vulcan regular size Dolphin Green Silver is picking up Rainbow Trout. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 10/6/10
By Capt. Jim Hirt
The high wind out of the north has not effected the fishing. The water temperature will be the key to finding fish on your next trip out. As of Monday morning the warm water is in and the fish were out. A temperature break was in 120 to 170 feet of water. The best action for Chinooks and Lake Trout was 110 to 140 down. Magnum spoons are the best option for all size fish. To see my how to video fish report go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/)
Patterns and programs 120 to 170 feet
The temperature break to 50 degrees is at least 100 feet down. The deepest we have caught fish is 145 feet down with the majority of our fish coming 95 to 130 feet down. This is my recommendation for location after the gale force wind. Head out 80 degrees from the north gap and set up in 100 feet of water. Check the down temperature and key on 50 degrees. Use Fish Fry Magnum Glow Spoons at first light working lines at all depths.

You will find great action on Rainbows with 2, 4, 8 and 10 color leadcore with Badger Tackle Vulcan and Reaper Magnum spoons. Downriggers 95 to 140 down are taking two and three year old Chinooks. I use Church Walleye Planner Boards for all my lead cores.

Some of our best producing spoons have been Vulcan Magnum Silver Lizard, Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver, and Magnum Fish n Chip. For small spoons the Vulcan Dolphin Green Silver and combinations of silver spoons with green or blue accent colors. Run the boat speed at 1.6 to 2.1 MPH.

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 10/11/10
By Capt. Jim Hirt
Fish are moving deeper. Sunday afternoon we had a great trip with action on Chinook, Coho, Rainbow and Lake Trout. There are some big Rainbows out there and lead core with spoons is the way to catch them. A temperature break was in 150 to 175 feet of water. The best action for Chinooks and Lake Trout was 130 to 160 down. Magnum spoons are the best option for all size fish. To see my how to video fish report go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/)
Patterns and programs 150 to 175 feet
The temperature break to 52 degrees is at least 70 feet down. The deepest we have caught fish is 160 feet down with the majority of our fish coming 95 to 160 feet down. The way to get that deep with downriggers is to add 15% to the length of the cable you let out. That is to fish 100 down run 115 feet of cable, 150 feet down run 173 feet of cable and so on. The variables are type of lure, boat speed and current. At times we have had fish with 190 feet of cable out. Ten feet or less off the bottom has been best. Head out 80 degrees from the north gap and set up in 140 feet of water. Check the down temperature and key on 50 degrees. Use Fish Fry Magnum Glow Spoons at first light working lines from 100 and down.

You will find action on big Rainbows with 2, 4, 6 and 8 color Cortland lead core with Badger Tackle Vulcan and Reaper Magnum spoons. Downriggers 95 to 160 down are taking two and three year old Chinooks and Lake Trout. I use Church Walleye Planner Boards for all my lead cores.

Some of our best producing spoons have been Vulcan Magnum Silver, Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver, and Magnum Fish n Chip. For small spoons the Vulcan Dolphin Green Silver and combinations of silver spoons with green or blue accent colors. Run the boat speed at 1.6 to 2.1 MPH.
Vulcans, Nestor Wobblers and Reapers are sold only on the web at http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com%20%20/)They are having a buy four spoons and get one free at this time. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 4/24/11
By Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
Early Coho! Early Coho! Early Spring Coho!
We had two charter trips this weekend with great action both time periods. In the morning we had good numbers on Coho, one twelve pound Lake Trout and a small Brown Trout. Afternoon was even better with sixteen fish total. Mostly Coho both charters with a nice eleven pound Chinook in the afternoon. The hot bait was the regular size Reaper Peacock made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) We also had action on orange flashers and flies.
How!
April fishing remains very good when you can get out. The weather has created some problems with presentation and access to the best fishing areas. Our best presentations are 2,3,4,and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 45 feet down. The fish have been on regular and magnum spoons. The Reaper Magnum and regular Peacock Silver spoon by Badger Tackle have caught most of our fish. Six inch orange dodgers and Johnnie Peanut Flies are also doing a good job. Our best boat speed is 1.7 to 2.0 mph. Slide Divers are producing very well set to #2 with 30 feet of line out.
Where!
Head northeast out the north gap Milwaukee and fish north in 45 to 70 feet of water. Water color may be an issue if it is cloudy move in and out of the cloudy water for the best action. The color break is holding most of the fish.

Coho and Chinooks are in the top 30 feet with action on Slide Divers set to #2 and 25 feet of line out. Run 2,3,4,and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 45 feet down.
Where!

Coho Fever Hits Milwaukee!
Eight to twelve foot waves have kept everyone off the lake until yesterday. We went out in the rain and two to four footers with an occasional six. Had fantastic action on Coho Salmon and Lake Trout. Six man limit in four hours with many lost fish in the high waves.
How
Coho are coming on all size spoons Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) have been working for us. Six inch flashers or dodgers with green or blue Johnnie peanut flies must be part of your presentation for Coho. A hot presentation for us was a size O orange dodger with a 21.5 inch lead to a medium size blue fly. Coho are in the top 20 feet and Chinooks are 30 to 45 down. Steady action on Slide Divers set to #2 and 25 feet of line out. Run 2,3,4,and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 48 feet down. Speed has been very critical with the 43 degree water. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. For spoons Use the regular size Silver Vulcan. 1.6 to 1.9 has been best speed! Tie your flies 10.5 inches on 6 inch dodgers, 12 inches for 6inch flashers and 22 inches on the size O dodgers. All orange dodgers and flashers. I hope this helps.
Where!

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 6/1/11
By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
Best Coho Fishing ever in Milwaukee!
Had fantastic action on Coho Salmon and the Chinook are coming on strong. Photo of Joe Milton and company. They know how to put them in the box. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/) By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How
Coho are coming on all size spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) have been working for us. The small Reaper Peacock and Fish n Chip has been hot on the lead cores. Six inch flashers or dodgers with green or blue Johnnie peanut flies must be part of your presentation for Coho. A hot presentation for us was a size O orange dodger with a 21.5 inch lead to a medium size blue fly. Coho are in the top 35 feet and Chinooks are 30 to 45 down. Steady action on Slide Divers set to #3 no ring and 55 feet of line out. Run 4 and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 48 feet down. Speed has been very critical with the 47 degree water. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The big Chinook are hitting on Reaper Magnum Glow spoons. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best. Tie your flies 14.5 inches on 6 inch dodgers, 12 inches for 6 inch flashers. All orange dodgers and flashers. I hope this helps.
Where!
Fish are from the harbor break wall and all the way out north of Milwaukee to 120 feet. It can be a zoo in close with all the traffic and it may be better to head out the north gap Milwaukee 70 degrees and fish northeast out to 70 to 100 feet of water. Have a great fishing season. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 6/27/11
By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
Coho Good, Chinooks Good In Milwaukee!
Coho have slowed down some but still a big part of the catch. Deep water is the place to go with fish going down to find their preferred temperature. Surface is warming and the key is looking for fish by temperature. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/) By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How
With the warmer water the most aggressive Coho and Chinooks are coming on magnum spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) have been working for us. The Magnum Reaper Big Joe Silver has been leading the pack for top producer over the past two days. This spoon on 150 copper behind a Church Walleye Board is one of our best presentations. Six, eight and ten color leadcores are also working. Six inch flashers or dodgers with green or blue Johnnie peanut flies must be part of your presentation for Coho. Coho are from 35 feet to the bottom on downriggers as well. Chinooks are 60 to 125 down. Slide Divers have not been that productive on the bright sunny sky we had over the weekend and should improve on overcast days ahead. The surface is almost sixty degrees and it is time to work the Rainbow Trout in the top twenty feet. Two and Three color leadcore with the Regular Vulcan Dolphin Green and Silver has taken Rainbows to nine pounds the last several days. A little faster speed about 2.5 is required for Rainbows. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The big Chinook are hitting on Reaper Magnum Glow spoons. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best. Tie your flies 16 inches on 6 inch dodgers, 18 inches for 6 inch flashers. All orange dodgers and flashers. I hope this helps.
Where!
Fish all the way out east of Milwaukee to 200 feet of water. Head out the Main gap Milwaukee 85 degrees. Fish east out in 180 to 240 feet of water for the best action. Have a great fishing season. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 8/8/11
By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
Milwaukee enjoys good fishing after east wind !
Our numbers have been great the last four days. All species have been active with warm water on top the fish have pushed down. Leadcores and divers best with action on downriggers as well. Magnum spoons are a good bet for the big fish. Surface water has warmed to 76 degrees and most of the action is 40 to 66 feet down. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/) By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How
My top producer has been Reaper and Vulcan magnum spoons on 6, 8 and 10 color leadcores. Throw in a flasher fly on the downrigger and keep moving till you find action. Coho will hit all size spoons from 30 to 55 down off downriggers fifty to one hundred feet behind the ball. Tons of Rainbows hitting at the same depth or a little higher. Looking for Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) you may only order them online. Try them their shipping is cheap and they arrive fast. Ten color lead behind a Church Walleye Board is one of our best presentations. Wire divers have replaced the braid divers set to #2 with 100-160 feet if line out. Silver spoons have taken Rainbows to twelve pounds the last several days. A little faster speed about 2.5 is required for Rainbows. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The boat speed of 2.0 to 2.2 has been best. Don’t forget the Lake Trout near the bottom magnum Reaper glow spoons SLOW, SLOW, SLOW 1.5 or less will net Poor Mans Lobster. Currents are crazy out there if your not catching fish change directions and speed.
Where!
Fish east of Milwaukee 100 to 170 feet of water. Head out the Main gap Milwaukee north or south the best action. Have a great fishing season. Let's go fishing! In and out for fish Milwaukee.
Warm water on northeast wind has again driven the feeding fish out to 125 feet and down 80 to 100 down. Eight to twelve pound Chinooks are plentiful with an occasional Lake Trout and Rainbow. The big 20 pound Chinooks are coming in with some action from 55 feet to the inner harbor. Glow spoons inside the break wall have been good at first light. Magnum Reapers in silver on 100 foot leads my go to bait for 50 foot of water. West Is Best And The Fish Are In !
Warm water is out and cold water is in and the fish have followed. Feeding fish have moved to 70 feet and down 50 to the bottom. The big 20 pound Chinooks have been slow but this drop in temperature should cool the harbor and promote action in the inner harbor. Thomas Jones battled this trophy Chinook of 23 pounds 2 ounces! Glow spoons inside the break wall have been good at first light. Magnum Reapers in silver or glow on 75 foot leads my go to bait for shallow water. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/) By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 9/27/11
By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
East Gales May…. Change The Action !
Cold water and unsettled weather has turned on the fish. As of two days ago action was fantastic but this may all change on east gales. Eight to Twelve foot waves yesterday shut down any opportunity to get out and time will tell how the lake will respond after the blow. My guess is the fish won’t be affected significantly and will stay in the 55 to 100 feet of water. The big 20 pound Chinooks have been slow and may be done for this season. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com (http://www.jimhirt.com/) By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How!
Try trolling the harbor with magnum glow spoons at first light. Magnum Reapers in silver or glow on 75 foot leads are my go to bait for shallow water trolling. Shore anglers, I recommend regular size Badger Tackle Vulcan spoons in the glow colors for the cloudy water of the harbor when working the browns. My top producer trolling the last trip out for all species was the Reaper and Vulcan magnum spoon on six and eight color leadcore. Down riggers 30 to 50 down with spoons also worked. Looking for Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) you may only order them online. Try them their shipping is cheap and they arrive fast. My lead cores and coppers all run behind a Church Walleye Board. When fishing deep braid divers no ring set to #3 with 65 feet line out are working. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The boat speed of 2.0 to 2.2 has been best.
Where!
The harbor is packed with 2-3 pound Brown Trout and you may find this an option for shore fishing. Boat anglers fish northeast out of Milwaukee north of the Filtration Plant 70 to 90 feet of water. Mixed Bag With some Nice Chinook!
We had two charter trips this weekend with good action both time periods. In the morning we had a few Coho, one twelve pound Lake Trout and two Chinooks in the teens. Afternoon was about the same with seven fish total. Mostly Coho both charters with a nice eleven pound Chinook in the afternoon. The hot bait was the regular size Reaper Peacock made by http://www.badgertackle.com (http://www.badgertackle.com/) We also had action on orange flashers and flies.
How!
April fishing remains average to good when you can get out.
