Sam Rayburn is at 155 .77 ft and hovering around there. The lake is 8.633ft low, so please watch carefully where you are running.
Bass; The bass have started to move up in a few places and stage in a few more places on the outer edges. Some days these fish will get active and other days they just sit tight and do nothing. If you catch one of the days they are active they've been chasing Jerk Baits and Lipless crankbaits. We have also been slow rolling a 3/8 oz White Stanley Spinner bait around the edge of the grass. The shallow fish get active when you get a couple of warm days with sunshine but on the bad days they bury up in the grass or drop back to the next edge.
Now for the guys that love soft plastic, here is one of my secret baits that I have been throwing a lot in the shallow grass. The "DoodleBug", with a light weight so that it sinks slow and you can work it over the grass. OK what's a DoodleBug??? It comes from one of my Sponsors (E2 Bait Company) they have a good line of baits. I have been using the DoodleBug for lots of different things from Jig Trailers to Baits for my Carolina and Texas rig. We have been catching a few fish on Crankbaits over main lake points in 8 to 16 foot of water. I have been throwing a new bait for me (StrikePro). I had been looking at them at Bass Strike Tackle and loved the finish on the bait. The other day I got one of the catalogs and got to reading about the finish and found that it has a Plastic Micro Skin coating to protect the paint finish. I know that looking though my box of scratched up baits I need to do something. So picking one up and putting it to the test on the water and catching a few fish on it to proved itís a winner in my books. Itís has some of the best hooks right out of the box too boot. The ledges have been holding a few fish in 12 to 20 ft of water and we've been catching some fish on small compact baits moved very slowly over the edge. The Jigging spoons off main points and along creek channels have been picking up a few fish. I hope to have a few more tips later in the week. Good Luck and stay warm and safe.

We have been booking trips for the New Year to Lock in the price before prices of things go up. Donít wait too long to get your trip booked for the New Year.
Crappie; The Crappie have moved up the river and can be caught off the river channel.

Sam Rayburn is at 156 .75 ft and has started to come up. We got some much needed rain this last week. The lake is 7.65 low, so please watch carefully where you are running. There are lots of sand bars just under the water and lots of stump showing.

E15 fuel for the future. I'll bet you are asking yourself ,"What IS E15 Fuel?" Well you are running E10 now. That's the percentage of ethanol in the gas you buy. That doesnít sound like a big deal to anyone. If you like to fish, and own a boat it could have been the end of your boat motor. The list of motors that won't run on this fuel is unbelievable. It would affect 60% of all the cars we drive, the entire marine industry, and other off road engines. WOW! This would have crippled American, if not for Congressman John Sullivan and his amendment . You can look up the details on the John Sullivan website. It is very important to American to keep the fuel we have working in all our engines.

Bass; Wow! The spawn is almost here and fishing has picked up with the warm weather.Spring and fishing go hand in hand. Things start to warm up and people want to get out of the house and on the lake. A lot of big fish will have moved up and are just sitting, waiting for the right conditions to spawn. Just a couple days of sunshine can make these fish go crazy chasing shad. If slow is your way of fishing, wacky worms and senkoís pitched up in the shallow grass will more than get a few tugs on the line. The males have been moving in the last few weeks and we have had some days of 100 fish caught on Lipless Crankbaits. The Strike Pro Ĺ and ĺ oz Flap Jack have been doing good with more fish off the Ĺ oz. Bigger fish have been coming off the ĺ oz. Colors change from day to day. Early in the morning or on cloudy days I been going more with the red and darker colors. On the days with bright sunshine switch to the lighter, natural colors. The New Stanley Spinner bait in Wtm Gray Green Flashs or Bleeding Shad flashhas been doing good. I've picked up some nice fish over the grass and around the points as they move back into the pockets. The bigger fish have been slowly moving into the staging areas and just sitting there. These big females are full of eggs and seem to chase something a lot slower like C/R or T/R. There has been a few of them that have been topping the scales over 9 lbs. The old monster worms and creature baits; like the new doodlebug from E2 Bait Company; have been doing great.

McDonald's Tournament is in April and we have already been booking trips for it. Donít wait to get your trips booked and reserve a place to stay. You guys know thing will book up months in advance.

Crappie; Awesome has been the word for the Crappie fishing last week. We stumbled across a few places holding great fish and most of them were a good size. We filled a cooler full of some of the best slabs that I have seen this year. How long this will last depends on the weather. Getting out on cool spring days and having some fun with your friends and family is the best.

Sam Rayburn has been falling this week and is now at 156.13 That's over 8 ft low. There are a lot of sandbars that are just under the surface. If you're new to the lake it can be very dangerous. Remember to slow down until you get familiar with the areas you will be running. We have had boaters stuck on sand bars all night. That isn't the way you want to start a weekend or vacation.

Well the wind has still been blowing each day and itís been tough to get out and do a lot of fishing this week. The early morning has been the best, when the wind has been the lightest. Everyone hates the wind but at times it can be your friend. It keeps a lot of folks off the water and that means more room for you to catch fish. There are some fish that have moved up shallow around the pads and the back of some of the pockets. They have been chasing some Stanley Ribbits and Pop Ė Rs early and late so get ready for some top water action. Now with the wind blowing the Stanley Spinner bait and crankbaitís have still been picking up some fish off the points and grass edges. We have had some fish holding from 12 to 25 ft off the points and ledges. Those fish have been snaggin' on Carolina and Texas Rigs, Creature baits and Old Monster worms. There will be some schoolies chasing shad from time to time in open water so keep a shad color crankbait handy. They can be a lot of fun.

Hopefully Big Sam will get back on track and start producing the fish it is so famous for.

Lowrance HDS -10 Has been a great tool for me and I just wanted to tell everyone I have a new one coming and will be selling the old unit in about 5 to 6 weeks. I have paid for two years of extended warranty on the unit. The unit will come with all the hardware that came with it all new Cables , transducer ect. This going to be a great buy for someone that wanting to save a few bucks. There is more info on the website.

Remember the Sharelunker Program entries started on October 1 and runs thru April 30th. If you havenít heard, it encourages anglers who catch a 13 - pound- plus largemouth bass to lend or donate it to the TPWD for spawning purposes. There are some great benefits doing this and one of them is that the angler receives a fiberglass replica of the bass. There is a 24- hour pager at 1-888-784-0600 Check out the Program rules at their site along with the Benefits. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/v...c/sharelunker/

Crappie; The Crappie have been stacking up out there and we have had some good days with some pretty good crappie. The wind has been the biggest problem but things should start to settle down as we get a little farther into the summer patterns. The new pontoon has plenty of room for everyone so get your group booked for a spring crappie trip.

        God Bless
