Quick day on the Beach Saturday. Mark Deckard, Tom Lay, and Walter hopped on bright and early, then off to Campo’s for bait. The wind had shifted to the west overnight, but was light so the ride out to the Sound was nice. We made one stop and it was all over by 8:30. Fishing with Campo’s live shrimp on a Carolina rig the guys were pulling some very nice Trout one after another. The Trout started out in the 2-4 pound class, but about half way to our limits the fish got a little smaller, still very nice fish. A great time was had by all putting 100 Trout, 2 Reds, and 1 Sheepshead on ice.

The legend continues. Blackie Campo’s is open with live bait, ice, fuel, and 2 back down ramps. Come on down and see what a great fishery we have in the Shell Beach area. Call United Charters now for your next fishing adventure 504-439-1680.

Fished today with Bruce Cook his Brother Brad and Brad’s son Jarred. They fished yesterday afternoon with Capt Casey. They left the dock some time after 4 PM. The tide was low and they picked away in the back of Bayou Bernard. They ended the day with 6 reds 8 trout and 4 heads. I know they fished in some shallow water. When we ran up the mrgo this morning, I could feel it in the prop. I try to tell everyone not to go in the late afternoon. I like to have the day to put them on the fish. This morning we got an early start. We got on a good trout bite in the morning. When they shut down we went towards central. The trout were there. We were using Campos live shrimp and a ¾ quarter ounce sinker. The tide was rolling in and the fish were flat on the bottom. You had to leave the bait flat on the bottom or you would catch a blue fish or lady fish. The trout were very nice. We were going through bait fast with the junk . We made another couple of moves and got into a good trout bite. I thought we had 100 trout in the 1-4 pound range. When we counted them they were 93 pretty fish. Capt rory limited out today with pretty fish. .4 anglers $175 per person to fish. This includes bait gas ice oil tackle and fishing equipment. This also includes free fish cleaning. Campos is back up and running. They have 2 back downs and ice. The bait is really pretty bait and appreciate your business. Charter info 504-887-4960 504-881-9966

Sunday was a fun day on the Beach. George Smith, Jason Robards, and Allen Boyd jumped on board and off to Campo’s of bait we went. There was a little chop in the Sound on the way out and when I got close to the rig I wanted to fish there was a boat on the spot already. Headed over to another favorite rig and got set up in the sweet spot. Fishing with live shrimp on a Carolina rig it was Trout on from the get go. The Trout were in the 2-3 pound range and coming in fast. The bite slowed down when a crew boat paid us a visit, but the fish turned on again once they got used to the commotion and we finished off our limits and headed to the house. Total catch for the day was 100 Trout, 9 Sheepshead, 3 Flounder, 1 Red, 1 Drum, and a lot of fun.

Hot fishing on the Beach Tuesd

Hot fishing on the Beach Tuesday. My brother Stan Rorison wanted to get his friend Don Herman on some big Trout. We pulled out early and stopped by Campo’s for some bait before heading out to the Sound. The conditions were great and the fish hungry. It was easy fishing, just drop a live shrimp down all the way to the bottom, close the bail and start reeling in a big Trout. Don was having a blast catching Trout after Trout. You would know when he had a fish on because you would hear him laughing. Our Trout bite stopped when we were 3 fish short of our limit so we moved to a couple of other well heads finding only Sheepshead and that was no problem since we all love to eat them. Finally we found our last three Trout and headed on in early. Catch for the day was 75 fat Trout, 25 Sheepshead, 2 Flounder and 1 Drum. It was a lot of fun to be able to fish with little brother and he did a great job of washing the boat.

Great day on the Beach Wednesd

Great day on the Beach Wednesday. On board for the day were Kevin Adams and his son Tyler. Armed with a load of Campo’s live shrimp we headed on down the MRGO. The wind blew harder and harder the further down we got the channel. We stayed in Eloi trying to stay behind the protection of the rocks. The rough conditions made for a slow bite, but the Trout were nice sized. By 10:30 we had about 26 Trout in the box and the wind and seas started to lay down so off to the Sound we went. Made one stop and got a good bite of some big 2-4 pound Trout. We called it quits at 1:00 to head in with 61 Trout, 1 Drum and 1 Flounder. The guys are pretty good fisherman and had a great time.

The fishing in Shell Beach right now is red hot. 4 anglers $175 per person to fish. this includes bait gas ice tackle and fishing equipment. We offer 2200 square feet of deluxe accommodations with flat screen plasma TV’s that are Cable ready. We also have excellent sleeping quarters and cooking facilities to boot. Fish out of our boats or yours.

Good day on the Beach today. B

Good day on the Beach today. Bob Bell and his son Mathew came down from Vicksburg, MS for a little Shell Beach fishing. Once we got some bait from Campo’s we headed straight out into the Sound. The wind was low, the seas flat, and the tide moving hard. We got on a few good Trout bites, but they were short lived. We would pick up a few nice fish, and then they would shut down. We made a few moves and put together a nice box of fish. With 50 Trout, 6 Sheepshead, 2 Reds, and 1 Drum the guys said they had more than enough fish and were ready to head to the house. All fish were caught on live shrimp and croakers with a Carolina rig on the bottom.

                  Buras Picture-Perfect Weather

                  Buras Picture-Perfect Weather Trout Report,

Today Dale and I headed out of Joshua’s Marina under very calm, overcast weather. Tide conditions were very good as well with over 2 ft. range. Plenty of boats out today and the fishing started slow. We fished only lures again: DOA clear and glow, Storm 3 inch wild-eyed shad, Berkley new penny & natural 3 inch Gulps, Reaction 3 inch Bayou Chub minnow chart./silver flick/black back all fished under various corks (Cajun torpedo rattle and clip-on egg rattle about 1 1/2 ft down). Some fish were caught freelined. Best spots were over oyster reefs drifting then anchoring at times. The second best spots were under dive-bombing birds over the same areas. We threw back about 10-12 under sized fish but ended the day with 48 nice specks. We could have limited out if someone aboard fished more than he ate. The Berkley Gulps caught most of the fish but the larger trout were caught on the Storm shad. The Gulps work best if you cut the pointy nose tip off about ¼ inch section and discard, then thread the body up onto a 1/8 oz. screw jig head. They stay on much longer than regular jig heads and cutting the tip off allows the screw coil on the jig head to grip the body better.

                  Good fishin’,

Father’s Day on the Beach. I had a charter scheduled for Sunday, but got a cancellation call the night before. Got to sleep in and catch up on some needed rest. This made for a great opportunity to take my daughters Elizabeth and Izabella fishing. It has been a while since I have had a chance to take them fishing. We made a short trip to Lake Borgne armed with Campo’s shrimp. The girls had a great time putting 10 Trout, 2 Reds, 2 Sheepshead, and 2 Channel Mullets on ice. No better way to spend Father’s Day.

Father and son fun on the Beac

Father and son fun on the Beach today. Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Tim Fitzpatrick, his sons Jake and Kyle, and his father in law Dick. We were greeted by a stiff SE wind this morning as we pulled out of Campo’s with a well full of their world famous live shrimp. With the wind blowing pretty good and rain showers building we stayed close in Bay Eloi. On our second rig the guys got on a good bite and were putting Trout in the boat at a good pace. The Trout were on the small side, but with the conditions and not a lot of throw backs no way was I going to leave. But leave we did, the rain was coming on us so we headed in a clear direction and got behind the storm were we continued fishing till the box was full and there was a break in the storms. We managed to stay dry for the most part till we got back in. Total catch for the day was 100 Trout, 30 Channel Mullets, and 1 Flounder. They did a great job of fishing today in some not so good conditions, and a pleasure to be with.

This made for constant action and a lot of Campo’s famous shrimp caught fish or died trying while on the end of a Carolina rig. (BRING PLENTY BAIT) The guys had a blast and limits were reached quickly. The last few days have been different weather each day and the fishing different to match. Windy days fishing the edges with live shrimp under corks wherever you find clean water out of the wind and plastics under the birds. The trout are school sized.
Calmer seas we get outside and catch the big trout 2 to 5 lbs. The preferred bait Live Croakers Carolina rigged. Redfish and Drum are still steady on the inside with live or dead shrimp under corks, just work the points with moving water and you will get’em

Fun day on the Beach today. On

Fun day on the Beach today. Onboard today were Charlie Mascagni, his sons Charlie and John (8), and friend Matt Martinez. It felt more like late September this morning than June. There was a stiff NW wind and the air had a cool feel to it. We started off in Eloi and John was putting Trout in the boat from the start. His Zebco was the hot rod in the boat today, catching the first, the most, and the biggest. The wind died down a good bit as the morning went on. By this time we had 50 Trout and a bunch of Channels and Whites on ice. We made a move out into the Sound. The water was crystal clear and the Trout hungry. It was like looking into an aquarium with all the Spade fish swimming around and slashing Trout being brought up from the bottom. These were nice 1.5-3 pound Trout and in no time the box was full, limits reached, and all the bait gone. Total catch for the day was 125 Trout, 6 Sheepshead, 1 Pompano, 1 Flounder, several Channels and Whites, and 1 Grouper (released). It was a great day for all and they said it was the most fun Trout fishing they ever had.

                              Buras 50 Mule-Trout Heat Rash,

Today Arthur and I left out of Joshua’s marina under very calm and hot weather conditions. Tide was less that a foot differential and the water clarity was clean in most of the areas we fished. We first headed to coast to fish the surf from the boat, but fishing was very slow to dead in that area so we opted to fish various oyster reefs in the nearby area. We threw DOA’s and Bayou Cub minnows but the best bait today was the Berkley Gulps in the 3-inch size (new penny, natural and white colors) fished under Cajun torpedo and medium sized regular style rattle corks using ¼ oz. screw jig heads fished 2-3 ft down. The line rigging was Power Pro 6/20 on the spool and a 7 ft. Berkley fluorocarbon leader tied directly to the PP braided line to keep the Cajun rattle corks from flying off and the fish from seeing the line. The trick with theses corks is to either use the torpedo or medium sized regular so that there’s not much water drag when the cork is pulled back to set the hook. Large-sized corks with concaved tops for popping are a cause of many a lost hookups. If you don’t believe this, ask Arthur. He was on a roll until he lost his med.-sized Cajun rattle cork I lent him, but he had fun watching me finish off the limit of mule trout. I have to admit, however, it took us awhile to get the rhythm needed to catch them consistently, and we had to try several different spots.

                              God fishin’,

Had a great time the last few days with two different groups withe the TROUT TRAIN ROLLING in HOPEDALE LA. The guys had a blast loading up on some really nice Speckled Trout along with some Reds, Drums and Flounder. Most fish caught on live shrimp and croaker under corks early and carolina rig later in the morning. The reds and drums are all over the interior lakes just fish the shoreline points with some moving water. Dead or live shrimp 1-2 ft under a cork wil do the job.

Two day report from the Beach.

Two day report from the Beach. Friday and Saturday my guests were Roger Cannon, Wayne Bennett, Fred Landrum, and Randy Burnhan all from Georgia. Friday we got an early start and headed straight out to the Sound. We pulled up to a small wellhead and tossed out Campo’s live shrimp on a Carolina rig. The big Trout were coming to the net so fast I could hardly keep up, then the Gorilla Reds showed up and the fun began. Nothing like having everyone hooked up and drags screaming. We kept 3 of the smaller ones and released some big monsters before we had to get out of there to find some more Trout. We made a move and got a good bite of some big Trout, solid 2-4 pound fish. With Trout limits done we tried to pick up some small Reds in the marsh, but only found a couple of Drum before calling it a day. Total catch for the day was 125 Trout, 3 Reds, 15 Sheepshead, 4 Drum, and 1 Spanish.

Saturday started out at the same wellhead as Friday, but the Trout were few and the bull Reds thick. The guys were having a blast with the big Reds and running all around the boat with screaming drags in all directions. The Reds were aggressive and hitting anything be it a bare hook or a hooked Trout. Had one Red come up and eat a Trout at boat side before it could be pulled out the water. We landed the Red and got the Trout back too, see photo. With all the Reds the guys could stand off for some Trout we went. We made several moves picking up quality Trout at each. Our action slowed so we ran back to Eloi and got on a fast bite and the limits were finished quickly. Total Catch for the day was 125 Trout, 5 Reds, 25 Sheepshead, 4 Drum, 2 Flounder, and 1 Pompano. The guys caught a ton of fish and had a great time. With fishing like this how could you not have a great time. We have been catching a lot of fish with limits filled all of June so far and the hot action will continue in July and August also.

The legend continues. Blackie Campo’s is open with live bait, ice, fuel, 2 back down ramps, and great service from the Campo family. Come on down and see what a great fishery we have in the Shell Beach area.

The fishing in Shell Beach right now is red hot. 4 anglers $175 per person to fish. this includes bait gas ice tackle and fishing equipment. Tommy Burns better known as “The TICK” brought his wife Laura and her brother Brian who was in town from Austin TX out for some HOPEDALE TROUT AND REDFISH action. Ran out to the rigs and the third stop was all she wrote. Nice trout in the 2 lb range were flying in the boat. Laura was hauling’em over the back Bryan swinging’em in from the bow and The Tick was working the middle. Live Campo shrimp 3 ft under corks and at 9:40 they had their limit on ice. Now it was time to go get some line stretching reds. First stop was all that was needed, Put 10 nice ones on ice and headed in to beat the noontime heat!

I know this sounds like a broken record but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Had the pleasure of fishing today with Jerry Jack and Tim. They came in last night from near Atlanta Ga. We got an early start this morning picking up the world famous campo’s bait. The bait that catches fish or dies trying. The bait has been catching fish all summer. Capt Rory and myself have just about limited out on good trout every day for the last 2 months. Today was the same. We got on 2 good trout bites today. Fishing live shrimp and croakers we limited out catching 100 pretty trout in the 1-3 pound range along with 1 flounder and 2 heads. . The fish were slamming the croakers again today. All the fish were tight lined with ¼ ounce sliding sinker Carolina rigged. The guys could really fish and put a pretty box of fish together fishing Breton sound. Check out the pictures. We have out standing guides out of shell beach. Capt Rory Johnny and I have been on a real good bite all summer. When you are thinking about booking your next trip keep any of us in mind.
<p> Campo’s is back in business. Blackie is a legend in his own time. A lot of real good guides are picking up bait every morning. There is a wealth of information at the dock so you can learn what is going on first hand on a daily basis. You can also avoid the wait to launch in the morning and the bait is great. . Stop by and check it out.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a complex, genetic disease that affects about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Since the founding of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) in 1955, life expectancy for those affected by the disease has increased from childhood to 37 years of age and is rising rapidly. As well, many of those affected are living normal, active, quality lives, thanks to the research and development of highly effective pharmaceuticals and treatments.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation puts close to 90% of every dollar raised directly into research to defeat CF. CFF was ranked as one of the nation’s top ten “charities you can trust” in the most recent poll by the Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money. You will be giving your support to one of the most respected charities in the United States.
