Shell Beach redfish slam. Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of fishing with David Deutsch and his sons. A strong cold front barreled through the night before leaving behind a lot of wind and cold temps that dropped all day. I told the guys to bundle up and like the experienced fishermen they were they dressed for the occasion. They have done a lot of fishing, just never down here in Louisiana. Conditions were tough to say the least, but we got lucky on our first stop and stayed put. The wind made it tough, but the reds made it fun. Though they were not looking for limits of fish to take home they easily caught that and a lot more of pretty reds that were lucky that day and were released for the next time. They also spent a couple other days fishing with my buddies Capt. Jakamo and Capt. Jimmy having great trips with them. They are hooked on South Louisiana fishing and will be back for more.

Got some openings next week and I know where a bunch of trout are hanging out.

Spring is here and the fishing is heating up. Trout are starting to wake up from their winter slumber and the Bull Red and Sheepshead action at the rigs is flat out crazy. Girls beat the boys in Shell Beach. Saturday I ran a two boat trip with Capt. Gabe. We had a group of 10 and the boys hopped on my boat and the girls with Capt. Gabe. It started off pretty calm but the winds were going to be picking up so opted to stay in the marsh and it was a good thing we did as the winds picked up as the morning went on. Fishing with Campoís shrimp under 4 Horsemen corks my guys filled up the box with reds, a few bass, 3 flounder, and 1 lone trout. As good as they did the girls did better. They had some bigger fish and limited out before us, but everyone had a blast, except fo the fish. Not good a day for them.

Shell Beach meat haul. Yesterday I help Capt. Ed with a two boat trip for a group from Texas. With calm conditions we made the run out into the Sound. We hopped around a few wellheads and got on some good bites of big reds and lots of sheepshead. The guys crammed both boats ice chests to the top and had a blast doing so. Everyone limited out on big reds with a few smaller keepers and all the heads you could ever want. Another great day at the Beach.

West Delta SW Pass Trout and Redfish Catch

2 of us left out of Venice marina with the intentions of fishing the spillway in SW pass but the river was unusually dirty forcing us to head to the west side of SW Pass to find cleaner water. We hooked up to the rig in 25 ft of water and the seas were moderate as we set up the LED lights and generator. It wasnít long before sunset the bite was nonstop trout and occasional redfish, one bull red I released. Seas started to build as the wind picked up beyond what the forecast announced. Winds got to 25 mph but it didnít stop the bite, but did hamper my friend who got a bit seasick. We caught a boat load of trout and 2 redfish before we had enough fishing action. First thing in the morning as the winds did subsided we headed straight in to pick up the boat in time to watch the Saints game.

Spooky specks at Shell Beach. Yesterday I had Jim Walther and his two guests Clint and Clint on the Blazer Bay. The wind was howling when I picked them up at Jimís camp and the tide was still rising though it should have been falling. We found some birds working in a pass between two lagoons and the guys went to work. The bite was not crazy fast, but was steady. When the tide finally turned around our bite faded, but not before the guys limited out on trout and added a few reds to the box before calling it a day.

Friday fall fishing at Shell Beach. Today I helped Capt. Mark running 4 guys from Texas for him today. It was chilly, the NW wind howling and the tide was falling super hard. The guys said they wanted reds and reds they got. We made one stop and in less than an hour and a half 25 pretty reds were chilling in the box. After releasing some more reds we looked for some trout picking up 40 and some sheepshead we crammed into the overstuffed box. Could not ask for better results in less than ideal conditions.

Windy Wednesday at Shell Beach. I picked up the Jim Walther and his quests David and Larry at Jimís camp and off we went to find some trout though expectations were not high. The wind was blowing ridiculously hard out the ENE. We found some birds diving in a bayou and the guys put some trout in boat weeding through a lot of through back. We moved further down the bayou and got on another trout bite till it faded with 40 or so in the box. Next we looked for some reds and plenty of them we found. The guys had a great time filling the box with some pretty reds.

Last Saturday at Shell Beach I had the Jamey Sandefur, his dad Doc, along with Grace, Brook, and Jim. It was a super foggy boat ride to our first stop where we got on a decent trout bite till some idiot in a tower boat came flying through right over our fish. We started to get them going again then comes two more boat loads of idiots right over our corks. After that was over we went and looked for a few reds and the crew put some nice ones on ice. We called it quits with rain on the horizon, but not before the crew put a nice box of fish together.

Another great day at Shell Beach. Today I helped Capt. Mark with a two boat trip. My three guys hopped on the boat and off we went. Our first stop was in a pond near Four Horse and it was nonstop action. There were some trout out to the middle and cast anywhere near the shore and it was and it was an instant red. It was fast and fun, but most of them were just under sized. There were enough good sized reds around to keep us sticking around. We left there to another area to look for some trout, but instead we ran into more reds filling out our limits and the guys caught a bunch more that were lucky enough to avoid the grill. Ended up with 40 trout, 20 reds, and 10 sheepshead. Fun day with a fun group.

I have some openings next week.

Finally some cool weather Trout at Shell Beach. Friday I had the Renshaw group of 3 from Atlanta. The cool boat ride sure was nice for a change, but it warmed up quickly making for a pretty day. Our first stop was where we found some birds diving where the tide was falling out a pass connecting two lagoons near Lake Robin. We had to weed through some throwbacks, but the keepers were really nice. The guys put near 60 on ice before the bite slowed down. They really wanted to catch some reds so off we went to a pond I like and it was on. Limited out on reds and must have caught and released 50+ more. Add in a bass, a drum, 4 sheepshead, and dozen more trout and the box was stuffed to the top. Great day of fishing with a fun group of guys.

I have this Tuesday and Wednesday open.
