    Default Another Trout Slam 4-5-2012

Just another phenomenal day to add to the books. Dularge is on fire, as the bite could not be any better. I had to reschedule my customer today due to an illness, so I jumped aboard with Tony Fontenot to film a show with Castin Cajun. Joining us were Capt Travis Miller, Mike Chatsko, and DC (camera man). Once again we waited for the storms to pass and headed out when things cleared up. We fished for about two hours filling the box to the top while leaving the fish biting. Solid fish up to 21 inch's today. Avocado Cocodrie Cocahoes, Avocado Matrix Shad, and East Beast TTF KFM'S double rigged put the hurt on the fish. Incredible day as we were blessed again to put a great show together. Thanks guys.
Booking up quick. Give me a call if you want in on the action. Big or small groups welcome. We will put you on the fish!!!

Default Trout & Red Action Down Dularge 4-4-12

Incredible action today as the trout and reds were eating up like there was no tomorrow once the front passed through. Dave Wilson from kerrville Tx and his best friend John Richey from Houston Texas flew in yesterday in Dave's plane and were not leaving without getting their fish!! We let the front pass and headed out at noon. We found the trout stacked up at our second stop as you were getting a bite or catching a fish everycast. Solid fish up to 19 inch's today as there was no measuring any fish. Double rigged Avocado Cocodrie Cocahoes and Avocado Matrix Shad was what the fish wanted as usual. The new High Life Tackle double rigs got the job done as the hooks are razor sharp. The bite slowed with the tide so the guys were ready to battle some redfish. We hit the redfish hole finding pretty clear water. The reds were a little finicky but we still ended up with 9 hitting the deck. TTF KFM's in black/chart, purple/chart did the trick. It was a great time with the guys as they are die-hards!! Great fisherman, great company, box of fish, what else can you ask for? Thanks again guys and look forward to your return.
Good thing for Swamp Swatter as the gnats were out, as there was no wind at all

    Default Another Meat Haul 3-26-2012

More of the same Down In Dularge as the great bite continues daily. On board today I had Steve Jacob, Ed Hall, Joe Jacob, and Wayne Staton from Tennesse. The guys came for one thing, they wanted a meat haul. Mission accomplished as we stuffed the box as usual!! GET U SOME!! LOL. We busted up the trout ealrly with the fast and furious bite. Once things slowed we checked a few reefs picking up trout at every stop. The guys wanted to hook into a few reds...no problem. We drifted two banks real quick and put six brutes in the box missing another 4. A few flounder as lagniappe and we called it a day. Avocado Matrix Shad continues to be the #1 bait everyday in Dularge (Songys in Houma has them). The reds were eating up the TTF KFM's in East Beast color today. Good times as always!!

I have a couple days left open in March if you want to get in on this incredible action.

Default Trout and Red-fish SLAM! 3-25-12

What a gorgeous day to be on the water. Today James Miller, Jamie Miller, Max Miller, and Brody Raborn from Mississippi joined me. We commenced to burnhackin the trout right at daybreak. Slick calm in the lake with flocks of birds as far as you could see. We had the trout coming in every-cast as you did not even have to reel. You would have 1-2 fish on as soon as the baits hit the water. After having roughly 150 specks hit the deck we switched gears to red-fishing. It didn't even take five minutes and I had Jaime hooked up with a golden bronze beauty. We had 15 hook ups landing 10 that made the box. Good as it gets. Crystal clear water in the red fish hole today, as you could see the reds swimming by the boat. All trout caught double rigged or under a cork with Avocado Matrix Shad and Coco Pepper Cocodrie cocahoes. All red-fish caught on Purple/Chart TTF Killer Flats Minnows or Purple/Chart Cocodrie Cocahoes. Thanks again guys for a great day.

Default Trout, Reds, and Flounder 3-24-2012

Another great day on the water with exceptional company. What a pleasure having Faron, Julie, & Mason Scioneaux back on board. Mason also brought his friend Wesley Chenier. The bite was a little slower today as we had to work for just about all our fish until our last stop. We hit a reef with nice clean water and the bite was ON!! Everyone in the boat was slinging in fish 1-2 at a time on the double rigs. We quickly doubled our catch within 20 minutes. Julie also hooked up with a 34 inch Bull-red. It gave her a great fight but Julie won the battle, after taking pics the fish was released to fight again. TTF East Beast KFM'S, Avocado Matrix Shad, COCO Pepper Cocodrie Cocahoes, and the new blue swimbaits all worked over the fish today. Steady slow retreive is what our fish wanted today. Thanks again guys and I look forward to our next trip.

Give me a call as the action will only continue to get better!!

    Default PIGS Are Biting!!! 3-23-12

Capt Joel Wakeland and I made a quick afternoon scouting trip to find emerald green water all across lower Dularge. It didn't take long to start slinging in trout, reds, and flounder as the fish were feeding like it was their last meal!!! Nice sized trout today up to 22 inch's long. Avocado Matrix Shad, East Beast TTF Killer Flats Minnows, and glow/chart Cocodrie Cocahoes did all the damage. The fish wanted the baits slow just drifting in the current with an occasional twitch, in 3-8 ft of water. Good as it gets right now Down In Dularge. Thanks Joel, incredible trip!

Thank goodness for SwampSwatter. The gnats were out at sunset.

Fished with a nice group from Kentucky that were in New Orleans for the Final Four Tournament on Sunday Chris, Frank, Bri , Francis and Ray Huntz who set up the trip. We started out with a foggy morning and slow start but it wasn,t long before the rods were bent and drag pulling redfish were on the line. We had a great day with beautiful weather and nice box of reds, drum and trout.

  8. Talking Reds & Trout!

Enjoyed a great trip earlier this week with none other than the Infamous Coogan Ryan! Chris and I joined Coog down at the lil camp on Mud Lake Pass for a good ole fashion redfish & trout slam on the DU! After a great stuffed pork chop supper the night before we got an early start in the big Blazer Bay. Our first stop produced about 15-20 nice trout but it didn't last. Probably could have caught more but somebody wouldn't put away a certain topwater lure which was.....ok I'll just say it....was useless! lol The fish wanted the swimmers and you got to feed them what they want!! However, our day ended with a bang as the three of us caught in excess of 100 fish keeping our 75 fish limit of trout and about a dozen nice reds. We chunked back some nice reds over the 27in. mark as we had all that we wanted. Blueback,Bunker and Glo/chartreuse swim baits worked best. We caught some nice fat reds on the Highlife swim baits too but the color blue was the ticket for most of the day! It had been a few years since fishing last with Coogan and Chris and I had a blast doing the DU! Good luck fishing.

    Default

Breton Sound meat haul on the Beach Tuesday. Onboard were Tim, Jens, Kenny, and Stan. The water was slick as glass on the way out and we headed straight out to the Sound. We made one stop and overfilled the fish box really fast. Before the last man could toss a dead shrimp on a jig head out two others were already hooked up and drags screaming. It was monster Sheepshead one after the other. I could hardly keep up with netting them. The guys caught and released a bunch more that we had no room for with a basket full that would not fit in the ice chest. We headed back in and made a couple stops in Eloi and picked up some pretty Trout at each stop. Most were caught on plastics under a cork and few on minnows. I had to empty the drink box and fill it up with the extra Heads and 20 Trout to top it off. The guys had a blast and left with a bunch of bags of the best eating filets in the Gulf.

The fishing in Shell Beach is outstanding and the spring fishing is heating up. Campo’s is open with fuel, live bait, ice, and two back down ramps. Nice and easy launching with helpful advice from the Campo’s is waiting for you. For your next fishing adventure call United Charters. Very nice overnight accommodations are available. 504-439-1680.

  10. Talking Sunday Slam!

    Sunday Trout Slam!

Good day on the DU! A beautiful day to spend on the water! Where else would one want to be than on the DU slamming redfish and trout? Capt Gerald was busy with a film crew and catching some nice reds and trout! Jeff Aycock fished with me on Friday and wanted some more today. Fishing today with Jeff were Ben Wright,Mary Mercer Buquet, and Danny 'Songbird' Fitzgerald. Not much current today but it didn't stop this crew from filling the big igloo with fish. Ben had the first trout in the boat on his second cast and it was on!! Bunker swimbaits and LSU chubs did the trick on the reefs. Lots of boats chasing birds in Lake Mechant & Sister Lake but we stuck to the reefs catching larger fish. We found our fish in one spot and worked it hard. The fish were mixed with the mullets in 4-5 ft of water and we had to make them bite. We did just that!! 16 yr old Mary was the queen of the boat today as she was slinging in trout all morning and had a big red almost pull her off the boat. Called it a day just before noon and had a full box to show for our efforts! Great crew today as Jeff is a class act! Good luck fishing.
