    Arrow WaveCast is now WaveSpin

    For Immediate Release w/photos

Spinning names -- WaveCast is now WaveSpin
New reel by Doug Hannon is changing the face of fishing

PORT RICHEY, Fla. --- The new spinning reel designed by Doug Hannon, praised in numerous test reviews for its innovative patented spool lip which eliminates tangles and birdnests, has changed its name from WaveCast and is now WaveSpin.
Introduced this past summer at ICAST the WaveSpin reel -- with its spool edge that looks like 16 waves instead of the ubiquitous smooth lip found on all other spinning reels – also greatly reduces line friction, giving anglers the ability to cast up to 30% farther than conventional spinning reels along with many other attributes and benefits.
The multi-talented Hannon, long known as “the Bass Professor” and one of the country’s most recognized big-bass authorities and authors on fishing, is also an inventor who holds 16 patents including the weedless propeller which made a huge impact to the trolling motor industry.
WaveSpin is Hannon’s next big advancement to recreational fishing.
Great for beginning anglers to professionals and guides alike, the new WaveSpin reel has already been the subject of many test trials and editorial features this past year. Most recently Outdoor Life magazine honored Hannon as one of the O.L. 25: people “whose lifetime achievement has had the greatest positive influence on hunting and fishing.”
Here in part is what Outdoor Life had to say:
“WaveSpin…the first significant improvement in salt- and fresh water spinning-reel design in more than 50 years. What sets the WaveSpin apart from its competitors is that it’s virtually impossible for the line to birdnest during a cast.”
    Outdoor Life, Dec. /Jan. 2007/2008
Outdoor Life fishing editor Jerry Gibbs said he and some "pretty vile casters," put the WaveSpin to the test. He said Hannon's latest creation lived up to its claims.
The first WaveSpin model DH3000 will soon be joined by two other larger models in 2008 including the DH4000 and the DH5000.
The WaveSpin is being marketed by XXX-Stream Tackle to a growing number of major sporting goods chains and web sites such as Cabela’s and Gander Mountain, independent fishing tackle stores along with direct sales on its website www.wavespinreel.com .
All WaveSpin reels come with a DVD owner’s manual and also includes Hannon’s never before released “The Five Seasons of Bass Fishing” with underwater footage that gives anglers hundreds of valuable tips from his observations into the habits of fish. Hannon has documented the catch & release of over 800 bass weighing 10 pounds and more.

Exclamation WaveSpin Reel wins Field & Stream Magazine’s

WaveSpin Reel wins Field & Stream Magazine’s
prestigious 2008 “BEST of the BEST” Award
Third honor for company that’s less than one- year old

PORT RICHEY, Fla. – In horse racing the Triple Crown is the pinnacle of achievements for three-year-olds.
For a company less than a year old, WaveSpin Reels’ winning its third and latest accolade feels like winning that ultimate title – especially against big-name companies in the fishing tackle industry.
The latest was Field & Stream Magazine’s prestigious 2008 “BEST of the BEST” Award in the March issue in which the editors of the 112-year old publication said "Doug Hannon’s WaveSpin Reels are a radical design at a time when innovation in spinning is hard to find."
Only two months before the modestly priced reels (the DH 3000 is $79.95), also got an honor from Outdoor Life Magazine when fishing editor Jerry Gibbs wrote that the reel represents “the first significant improvement in salt- and freshwater spinning-reel design in more than 50 years. What sets the WaveSpin apart from its competitors is that it's virtually impossible for the line to birdnest during a cast.”
And in January, TackleTour.com presented the reel with its Innovation Award.
“When it comes to the recognition and accolades this reel has received, the word ‘gratification’ would be a serious understatement,” Hannon said. “Beyond those, we have experienced volumes of comments, web postings, and phone calls all attesting to the fishing public's new love affair with this WaveSpin technology. Most rewarding is when someone says I have made it possible for them to enjoy fishing with their child or spouse, due to the trouble free functionality of this reel. We are bringing new people into fishing. I have come to realize in the end that WaveSpin represents an improvement that will never be improved upon, because it completely solves the problem.”
Hannon, who one scribe has called the “Thomas Edison of fishing,” holds 16 patents most in the outdoor arena including his weedless propeller, an advancement that effectively revolutionized the trolling motor industry. His innovations was one reason Outdoor Life honored Hannon as one of 25 people having the greatest positive influence on hunting and fishing.
His latest invention, the WaveSpin spinning reel is receiving high praise with its patented spool that makes loops irrelevant with either monofilament or braided lines.
Unlike the smooth lip on all other spinning reels, the WaveSpin reel features 16 smoothly rounded teeth – or waves -- on the spool lip which completely eliminate the eruption of a birdnest due a loop or loops that may have been retrieved onto the spool. During casting looped line lies harmlessly between the waves on the spool and simply unwinds on the next cast unnoticed and without creating tangles of any kind. Even if a loop lies on the spool instead of between the waves, the patented design still allows the line to cast freely.
Put to the test by Gibbs and some "pretty vile casters," he said Hannon's latest creation lived up to its claims.
Hannon’s WaveSpin is marketed by XXX-Stream Tackle through a growing number of major sporting and fishing goods stores (Cabela’s and Gander Mountain) along with direct sales on its website www.wavespinreel.com. Thumbs up WaveSpin Reels adds two models; gutsier drags

WaveSpin Reels adds two models; gutsier drags
Winner of Field & Stream Magazine’s

prestigious 2008 “BEST of the BEST” Award is growing

PORT RICHEY, Fla. – The ripple effect is becoming more of a wave as the latest innovation to fishing, the WaveSpin reel with its patented spool that makes loops irrelevant by eliminating tangles and birdnests, has added two larger models to its lineup, while receiving more accolades.

Joining the multi-award winning DH3000 that launched the WaveSpin name are the newest DH4000 and the DH5000 models. The 4000 weighs 12 oz, the 5000 is 12.5 oz.

Other than the physical size all three WaveSpin reels are identical in appearance, quality, features, saltwater certified and come with an exclusive two-year unlimited warranty. The reel, with its uniquely designed spool lip of smoothly rounded teeth – “waves” that eliminate tangles –, also features a maintenance port and a patented no-tool quick-strip spool allowing anglers to slip off the entire amount of old line in one clump without tedious stripping.

WaveSpins have heartier drag systems with big game capabilities

Inventor Doug Hannon said WaveSpin is getting calls and letters from anglers using its DH3000 telling of successful big game fish fights they’ve had and the huge benefits of the drag.

As he did with the 3000 model, Hannon and his engineers have incorporated gutsier drags employing multiple discs on WaveSpin’s newest reels for the ability to land bigger fish.

Using space age technology the 3000 now produces 31 lbs of drag (typically 7 - 11 lbs on other reels) ideal for example panfish, bass, walleye and northern pike.

The DH 4000 has 45 lbs of drag and is meant for fish in the 10 - 50 lb range such as muskie, salmon, and light inshore fishing for redfish, blues, snook, bonefish and permit, etc.

With 63 lbs of drag the DH5000 is great for larger species i.e. catfish, salmon and saltwater inshore/offshore fishing for king mackerel, dorado (dolphinfish), tarpon, sailfish, etc.

"When big fish outmatch your fishing line, the drag system becomes your only line of defense,” said Hannon. “Jerky drags cause break-offs. The new WaveSpin drag is so smooth that neither you nor the fish can feel when it starts or when it stops. Smooth, yes, but we also offer more than three times the standard drag tension and capabilities of most spinning reels

giving you the edge over the biggest and strongest of fish.”

    More accolades

In addition to the 2008 “Best of the Best” award from Field & Stream and praise from Outdoor Life Magazine fishing editor Jerry Gibbs who wrote that the reel represents “the first significant improvement in salt- and freshwater spinning-reel design in more than 50 years,” WaveSpin has picked up accolades in other publications. Giving a thorough test to a reel he bought Washington (D.C.) Times outdoors editor Gene Mueller wrote a rave review as did Miami (Fla) Herald outdoors writer Susan Cocking in a syndicated feature appearing in newspapers across the country (see testimonial page on WaveSpin’s web site: www.wavespinreel.com ).

The quality made yet competitively priced reels retail from $79.95 to $109.95 (the DH 3000 is $79.95; DH4000 is $89.95 and the DH5000 is $109.95).

The WaveSpin is marketed by XXX-Stream Tackle through a growing number of sporting (Cabela’s and Gander Mountain) and independent fishing goods stores along with direct sales on its website www.wavespinreel.com. For retail or dealer information on WaveSpin please contact Russ Riley, VP of Operations, at: 989-967-8426 or via e-mail at investrepo@hotmail.com.

Default For light finesse fishing WaveSpin Reels adds its DHxL

    For Immediate Release w/photo

For light finesse fishing WaveSpin Reels adds its DHxL
Latest reel of growing family is first to introduce new beveled waved spool for longer tangle free casts; multi disc drag for more tension and smoother operation

PORT RICHEY, Fla. – From the moment last winter when WaveSpin introduced its DH3000 reel and anglers and fishing writers began trying its patented no tangle-design and hardy drag, a steady flow of letters and phone calls streamed into the company. They usually asked the same question; when would a smaller version with the same attributes be available especially for finesse fishing like trout, panfish, smallmouth bass, walleye and more.
WaveSpin’s new extra light model the DHxL (Doug Hannon x-Lite), designed for fishing 2 - 6 lb class mono or 8 - 20 lb class braided lines, will be introduced at the ICAST (fishing tackle trade) show in Las Vegas. Its three predecessors will also be featured including the DH3000 which has won many accolades and awards, among them the 2008 Field & Stream Best of the Best for spinning reels.
”We have no model number such as the 1000, 1500 or 2000 size to define our newest reel,” said Russ Riley, VP of XXX Stream Tackle the marketers of the reels. “The DHxL will fit very comfortably within all of those sizes due to the extremely high tech drag and spool. It’s compatible with 1000 to 2000 sizes although it’s slightly smaller than a 2000 sized reel.”
As for attributes WaveSpin’s DHxL should catch the angler --- and the fish.
With a lightweight graphite body and aluminum handle it weighs just seven ounces and exceeds many of its competitor’s features with 7+1 stainless steel bearings, a gear ratio of 5:1:1, and an extremely high tech 10 disc drag offering 18.5 pounds of tension extending the weight range of fish species for potential IGFA world records.
“Following in the footsteps of its WaveSpin predecessors it could be the smoothest drag on the market today,” said Riley, “and with one of Evolution’s (www.evolutionproductsinc.com) selection of light rods, several that Hannon also helped to design, it makes a great combo.”
All of WaveSpin’s patented “waved” spools make loops irrelevant by eliminating tangles and birdnests. In addition the DHxL also introduces a new beveled design that reel innovator Hannon says will provide longer casts
“WaveSpin’s patented technology has benefits and features like no other brand reel,” said Riley. “Not Shimano, not Daiwa, not Abu Garcia or any other brand. By adding the DHxL reel to the WaveSpin lineup, we now offer the patented no-tangle technology in four sizes at a price and quality unmatched and unchallenged by any other reel brand. It’s a one of a kind light reel. It even resembles a piece of jewelry in the light and the feel and appeal are pure quality.
The list price is $72.00 and like all WaveSpins it comes with an exclusive two-year unlimited warranty. The reel, with its uniquely designed spool lip of smoothly rounded teeth – “waves” that eliminate tangles – also features a patented no-tool quick-strip spool allowing anglers to slip off the entire amount of old line in one clump without tedious stripping.
    WaveSpin’s pros recommend the following line capacities: 2 lb mono/8 lb braid - 330 yds; 4 lb mono/14 lb braid - 200 yds; 6 lb mono/20 lb braid - 160 yds.
WaveSpin Reels can be bought at a growing number of sporting (Cabela’s and Gander Mountain) and independent fishing goods stores along with direct sales on its website www.wavespinreel.com. For retail or dealer information on WaveSpin please contact Russ Riley, VP of Operations, at: 989-967-8426 or via e-mail at investrepo@hotmail.com.
