Default Hopedale Inside Marsh Report

Hopedale Inside Marsh Report,

It was a beautiful day to be out on the water in the Hopedale marsh. Cool weather with light breeze and good tidal movement added to the enjoyment. Chris (Henry’s son-in-law), Henry and I left out of Pip’s Place and there were many boats out on the water and plenty shotgun blasts from duck hunters interrupting the pristine scenery. The fishing started slow and picked up and around 10:00 am dropped off to catching nothing. Boats were scurrying around looking for fish. Best spot early was Grand Slam Lagoon and we ended the trip in One Quart of Fuel Lake where we found a trout bite again drifting. Best bait was Berkley Gulps in 3 inch white under clicking corks but you had to keep reeling in slowly while popping the cork to get them to bite. We ended the day with about 45 specks, 2 under sized reds and 1 black drum.

Good fishin’,

Default After Ida Trip

Thursday was my first trip out since Hurricane Ida blew thru. The water was back to normal levels and the tide falling but the wind was still blowing pretty stiff out the NW about 15-20. Charlie Hamilton John Batson and Harry Blair said they wee coming down no matter what so fishing we went. I was not sure of how the fishing would be so I just started checking some of my good spots looking around. It took about a half dozen stops before we found them but the speckled trout redfish and black drum were in the same spot. NICE! Live Campo shrimp 2 ft under a cork was the way to go. Nice sized trout were coming in steady along with some reds and drum mixed in. By mid morning the wind started to die down and the bite picked up ,The guy’s had their limit of trout before noon and the box was just about full. It turned out to be a great day on the water. John said it was the best fishing trip of his life and he is over 80 yrs old. Great day with some good people.

Default Romero Gang Whackin and Stackin

Saturday with Larry Romero and Crew turned out to be an AWESOME day after getting wind burn yesterday this morning the winds were down a bit 10-15 a lot better conditions. Things started off with a bang first stop nice trout coming in the boat But the bite faded. On the move a few here and there the tide had stopped coming in. Headed further out looking for some tide and found it falling in major bayou of Lake Robin. They had some birds hanging out in a curve so we gave it look corks down, power pole down and whack and stack. Everybody had fish on every cast until number 100 hit the ice. AWESOME! Off to look for redfish first Double hookups with bull reds then some black drum and few pooped lines We called it a day with a box slam full of fish.
100 Trout
6 Redfish
6 drums

Default Windy! Windy!

Friday I had Connie and Bobby Depew from Gonzales LA down for their first fishing trip in Hopedale LA. The wind was blowing pretty good but that would not stop Connie and Bobby from catching box full of fish. We had to find some protected water to fish and it was not long and the trout were coming. Catch a few and move was the pattern until we found steady bite where the water was draining out of a pond. Live shrimp and bayside plastics under a cork and they had the limit of trout on ice. Off to the redfish well we caught them everywhere but most were to small until but Connie and Bobby both landed bull reds in some shallow water with the drags screaming. The wind was pushing 30 mph by noon so we called it a day before it got too rough.

Default Smokin HOT Sunday Trout SLAM 11-8-09

What a incredible morning Al Reaux, Troy Reaux, 12 yr olds Josh Champagne, and Ben Breaux experienced this morning. We started the morning off fooling with some birds and only caught about ten fish. Decided it was time to check out some reefs and all it took was one stop. We had the fish coming in every-cast from all directions, nice 16-18 inch fish 1-2 at a time on tandem rigged chubs as usual. After boxing 100 fish by 9am, the winds had picked up and the bite shut down. One more stop in a protected bayou and we had our last 25 trout and 1 really nice flounder. The trout in the bayous are feeding in a winter like bite (swim baits dead slow on the bottom). Josh and Ben did a awesome job today, as these boys are some trout catching pros. The boys put a real hurting on the fish today!!!! Big thanks to Al for another awesome trout slam. Looking forward to fishing with you in Dec.

Default Trout Fishing on a Roll 11-7-09

Big Bull Red that swallowed a trout that Bob was reeling in

Bruce Robinson, Tom Birkett, Bob Salerno From Texas joined me this morning. Our morning started off slow catching only 16 trout and 1 red. Made a move to another area and found productive birds feeding on shrimp. The guys started filling up the box slinging in the trout on none other than tan-dem rigged bayou chubs. After boxing right at 60 fish the winds picked up and the bite shut down. Another great day fishing!! Thanks to my crew and Capt Bill Lake for setting up the trip.

Default Friday Trout Slam 11-6-09

Tim Barras and Ricky Tew joined me today for a great trout slam. Our first 3 stops only produced 3 fish, but our 4th stop is where we hit the motherload!! Four nice birds sighted some shrimp skipping across the water running for their lives and the rest is history!! We had the trout coming in the big Skeeter 3-6 at a time on the tantem rigged chubs. LSU and glow/chart is the colors of choice as the trout can't get enough of them. We filled up the box and added 1 redfish all in one spot. After leaving the trout we went in search of redfish. We drifted several usual productive banks with no luck, then called it a day. Thanks Tim for another great day, looking forward to your return in a couple weeks.

Red face Hopedale Marsh Report

Hopedale Marsh Report,

Today I left out of Hopedale under clear skies and cool weather. There must have been a million boats out on the water today. The tide was extremely high and the fishing was good. Using white shrimp Berkley Gulps under a clicking cork, I manage to bring in 21 specks and one redfish and was back at the launch a little after 10:00 am. I saw my share of kayakers in Hopedale Lagoon as the fish are all over the marsh.

Good fishin’,

Default Loads and Loads of Fish are in the Marsh

Fishing Magician Charters

Today we had two groups out. Capt. Jason had the pleasure of fishing with Steve and his wife Sandy. Today was Sandy's birthday and she wanted to fish for her birthday. So, Steve gave us a call and we made it happen.

Sandy had never caught a red fish before, so that was the first thing they targetted this morning. They fished the Biloxi Marsh and caught 50 trout and 4 reds.

I had the pleasure of fishing with David M. and his two sons. We also fished the Biloxi Marsh catching 90 speckled trout in the 12 - 18" range. All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp.

So, if you want to catch some fish and have some fun, Fishing Magician Charters is the one. We can set you up with a fishing trip you will never forget.

We also have a boat slip for rent. Give us a call. It has water, lights and a lift.

Default Dularge Fishing 11-3-09

Dr Thomas Falterman, Allen Clanton, Donald Kvill, and Ed Tomaszyk joined me today. Donald and Ed are in town from Canada visiting and really enjoyed the fishing and sites "Down in Dularge". Our morning started off with a bang, catching trout every-cast 1-2 at a time on the tandem rigged chubs. The bite shut off as quick as it started after boating right at 30 trout. We moved around boxing another 10 fish on various plastic baits, then went off to target red-fish. Only found 2 reds and a nice big flounder to add to the box. We called it a day around 12:00 as the winds had really picked up, and the guys were looking forward to cleaning and eating some fresh fish. Great time on the water as usual with excellent company. Thanks guys for a great day.
